As part of the team you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of sustainability strategies for ESA programmes, including sustainability assessment methodologies and maturity frameworks.
  • Coordinate ex-ante and ex-post sustainability evaluations and studies in collaboration with programme directorates and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the deployment of ESA’s eco-design policy, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, working groups, and sustainability tool development.
  • Support change management, communications, and awareness activities promoting sustainability across the Agency.
  • Coordinate the annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions assessment, analyse results, identify improvement opportunities, and support the deployment of reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Support the Green Agenda Project Management Office through planning, reporting, risk monitoring, stakeholder coordination, and performance tracking.
  • Coordinate the preparation and publication of ESA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, ensuring alignment with relevant international standards.
  • Manage stakeholder consultations and maintain ESA’s materiality assessment framework.
  • Support activities related to the Financial Framework Partnership Agreement (FFPA), including reporting, coordination with ESA directorates, the European Commission, and EUSPA.
  • Organise and support Environmental Protection Working Group (EPWG) meetings and related activities.
  • Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of ESA’s ESG Transformation Initiative, including KPI tracking and reporting.
  • Support environmental assessments of major ESA procurements, providing life-cycle impact evaluations and sustainability recommendations to support decision-making.

Qualifications

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of professional experience;
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting, greenhouse gas accounting, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and ESG frameworks;
  • Knowledge and experience in Sustainability Engineering topics (Clean Space, Zero Debris, Eco-Design, Space Circular Economy, Active Debris Removal, In-Orbit Servicing);
  • Knowledge and experience with environmental regulations, such as REACh and RoHS;
  • Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills;
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
