Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Real Estate | Planning, Design & Construction – UCLA Health

Support UCLA Health’s long range growth by leading space planning and feasibility work across a complex healthcare environment. Reporting to the Real Estate | Planning, Design & Construction Operations Manager, this role provides strategic planning for the programming, design, development, and disposition of properties and facilities. You will research, collect, and analyze planning data to inform policies, guidelines, and project decisions. You will operate with considerable independence during concept planning, project definition, and feasibility phases for major construction and infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee intake and planning of new space requests and planning tasks.
• Collect, analyze, and evaluate planning data to support the organization’s long range development plan.
• Prepare and present statistical and graphic materials to support Space Committee decision making.
• Provide planning support for major studies, including circulation and parking needs, new hospital development, medical clinic locations, and staff relocations.
• Participate in long range and precinct plans, facility master plans, and transportation plans.
• Support concept, project definition, and feasibility phases of building and infrastructure projects.
• Maintain space inventory records and planning documentation.
• Assist with multi year financial planning, budgeting support, forecasting, and variance and trend analysis.
• Research and develop planning policies, procedures, design guidelines, and program standards.
• Support compliance with environmental planning regulations and architectural design review requirements.

Salary Range:

$86,400 to $184,800 annuallyTarget Salary Range: $95,000 to $115,000


Job Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 or more years of related experience or training in planning, space management, architecture, or a closely related field.
• Thorough working knowledge and skill in city planning, architecture, or other planning related fields.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work both inside the organization and with external partners at multiple levels.
• Ability to multi task in a high pressure environment.

Preferred

• Thorough knowledge of the organization, including its architectural history, short and long range development plans, infrastructure, and current and proposed design and construction plans.
• Knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration, and state building codes.
