Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Southwark Cleaning Operative, on a 3.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £15.38 - £20.10 per hour

The Southwark Cleaning Operative is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across residential and communal estate areas. The postholder will carry out a range of cleaning duties in both internal and external locations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are consistently achieved while following health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine cleaning of internal communal areas, including hallways, stairwells, entrances, lifts, and other shared spaces.
  • Undertake external cleaning duties across estate grounds, pathways, bin storage areas, and surrounding environments.
  • Use cleaning equipment, machinery, and products safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout all assigned areas.
  • Report any maintenance issues, hazards, vandalism, or health and safety concerns identified during cleaning activities.
  • Ensure waste and litter are removed appropriately and disposed of in line with site procedures.

Essentials

  • Previous experience in a cleaning, caretaking, or estate cleaning role.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, products, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work to established cleaning schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
