About the Job

An opportunity has arisen for Sous Chef (Pastry Speciality) for Culinary Department to join Jumeirah Group.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

  • Assist the Executive Chef / Pastry Chef de Cuisine in setting service and pastry production standards in full compliance with the Group’s policies, procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Communicate any issues arising within the pastry section to the Executive Sous Chef and follow all further instructions to ensure timely resolution and smooth operation of the pastry kitchen.
  • Support the Executive Chef / Pastry Chef de Cuisine in developing new pastry and dessert menu items to ensure offerings remain seasonal, innovative, and crafted using premium ingredients.
  • Manage and coordinate staff training within the pastry section, maintaining an active training plan for each team member and ensuring all learned practices are consistently implemented.
  • Implement approved departmental policies, processes, and procedures within the pastry kitchen, providing clear guidance to subordinates and monitoring their adherence to ensure consistent, high–quality production and service standards.
  • Motivate pastry team members and contribute to identifying opportunities for improvement, including participation in initiatives focused on best practices, enhanced efficiency, and productivity within the pastry operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, and Environment regulations to support the delivery of world-class and luxurious hospitality services in accordance with Jumeirah Group standards.
  • Ensure that the designated pastry section, equipment, and utensils are always maintained in a clean, hygienic, and organized condition in line with the restaurant and food safety requirements.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

Essential

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous experience in a similar Pastry Chef role within a reputable hotel, bakery, or fine-dining establishment.

  • In-depth knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques, including baking, chocolate work, dough preparation, and dessert presentation.

  • Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, pastry production methods, and temperature-sensitive preparations.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality, precision, and consistency.

  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to hygiene, food safety, and proper kitchen sanitation practices.

Desired:

  • Preferred to be experienced in luxury hospitality.
  • Previous experience in a similar role highly regarded
