Job Description

Our client, a modern Mediterranean restaurant in Malta, is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in the day-to-day kitchen operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality Mediterranean dishes, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and excellent service standards in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Support the Head Chef in all kitchen operations and service execution.
• 
  Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team during service.
• 
  Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of Mediterranean-inspired dishes
• 
  Assist with menu execution, development, and daily specials.
• 
  Monitor food quality, portion control, and consistency across all sections.
• 
  Oversee stock control, ordering, and proper ingredient storage.
• 
  Maintain strict compliance with HACCP and food safety standards
• 
  Train and support junior kitchen staff to maintain high performance standards.
• 
  Ensure smooth kitchen workflow and effective communication between sections.
• 
  Step in for the Head Chef when required.

Requirements

• • Must be residing in Malta
    
• 
  Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie, ideally within Mediterranean cuisine.
• 
  Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and service flow.
• 
  Passion for Mediterranean cuisine and fresh ingredients
• 
  Strong leadership and team management skills.
• 
  Ability to perform under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
• 
  Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
• 
  Good understanding of HACCP and food hygiene standards
