Job Description

Sous Chef

We are currently recruiting for a Sous Chef to join Harrods’ passionate and high‑performing Dining team within our iconic Knightsbridge store. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key leadership role in a large‑scale kitchen within a globally recognised luxury brand, helping to deliver exceptional dining experiences defined by craftsmanship, consistency and quality.

About The Role

As Sous Chef within one of Harrods’ restaurant concepts, you will work closely with the Head Chef in an environment where elevated informal dining meets precision, pace and uncompromising standards. You’ll combine strong culinary expertise with hands‑on leadership to support the consistent delivery of Harrods’ luxury food offering.

Working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume operation, you will help lead the brigade through busy service periods, taking ownership on the pass when required and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day kitchen operations. You’ll contribute to effective planning, organisation and execution, supporting both service excellence and commercial performance.

A true champion of standards, you will help uphold excellence across food quality, HACCP, due diligence and compliance, while supporting the development of a motivated and engaged kitchen team. Through clear communication, coaching and attention to detail, you’ll play an important role in fostering a culture of professionalism and pride.

About You

You are a confident and capable kitchen professional with a genuine passion for high‑quality food and well‑run teams. Calm under pressure and naturally organised, you bring strong culinary knowledge and operational discipline, supporting the Head Chef in delivering consistent results within demanding environments.

You will also bring:

  • Experience supporting and leading kitchen teams, with the ability to coach and develop chefs at all levels
  • A strong and versatile culinary skill set, with sound knowledge of cuisine, production planning and kitchen operations
  • Experience tracking KPIs and supporting strong commercial outcomes
  • Excellent organisational and decision‑making skills, with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
  • Level 3 or 4 Food Safety certification, with a strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, compliance and due diligence

About Us

At Harrods, we strive to create an environment where you can deliver your best work and build an exceptional career. You’ll gain deep exposure to the workings of a premier, fast paced kitchen environment and enjoy a wide range of opportunities for growth and development.

  • Competitive annual salary of £43,527 plus tronc*
  • Sociable working hours
  • 33 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays), plus your birthday off
  • Up to 33% in store discount
