Sourcing Specialist - Africa & Middle East (AME)

The Barrick Africa & Middle East Team are seeking to recruit a Sourcing Specialist - AME. This role reports to the Sourcing Manager Central AME.

This role is responsible to execute all sourcing and procurement ensuring full governance, managing supplier quotations, tracking deliveries, and ensuring procurement transactions are accurate and compliant with Barrick policies.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Consolidate the offers received from international and local markets, evaluate and make the best recommendation for the site Supply Chain (SC) team to prepare purchase orders.
• Strictly adhere to the Procurement Policy guideline by ensuring a minimum of 3 competitive quotations are received and evaluated within 72 hours for PO execution.
• Manage supplier relationships, building strong working relationships, tracking performance, and escalating issues.
• Work closely with the site SC teams onsite, local supply partners, China hub colleagues as well as the technical teams onsite, ensuring the correct specifications are sourced from either the local or international markets.
• Run weekly critical list meetings and provide updates on internationally sourced items.
• Address any technical queries with the technical officers onsite to ensure queries are resolved timeously.
• Drive cost savings through FPA implementations and track savings against actual spend.
• Track all open purchase orders, following up with suppliers on delivery commitments and escalating delays to the Sourcing Manager.
• Apply the standardised catalogue to assigned categories to reduce SKU proliferation.
• Ensure all orders are accurately coded in SAP including, categories, contract references, and material descriptions.
• Resolve invoice queries and goods-receipt discrepancies with Finance and receiving teams.
• Maintain accurate filing of tender documents, quotations and award justifications for audit compliance, and support category analysis and spend reporting.
• Ensure Ariba system health- PO compliance, contract utilisation, and requisition-to-order cycle times.

Qualification Requirements

• Degree or National Diploma in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or Commerce.

Experience and Skills Requirements

• 3–5 years in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
• SAP Ariba or similar ERP procurement module proficiency.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage high volumes of transactions accurately under pressure.
• Strong sourcing, procurement and supplier evaluation skills, including quotation analysis and recommendation preparation.
• Working knowledge of procurement governance, compliance controls and audit documentation requirements.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and cost-saving mindset.
• Ability to manage supplier relationships, track delivery commitments and escalate performance or delivery issues appropriately.
• Good understanding of purchase order, goods receipt and invoice query resolution processes.
• Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis, category support and savings tracking.
• Excellent planning, follow-up and time management skills, with the ability to manage high-volume procurement activity under pressure.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across site teams, technical teams, suppliers and regional/global sourcing hubs.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and documentation discipline.
