The Sourcing Officer (Collections) is responsible for managing the collection, aggregation, and initial handling of agro commodities from suppliers across designated sourcing regions. The role ensures efficient consolidation of commodities at collection points, adherence to quality requirements, and smooth handover to logistics and warehouse teams.
The position works closely with suppliers, sourcing officers, quality teams, and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods into the supply chain.
Main responsibilities
Accountability
Collection & Aggregation Management
• Coordinate the collection of agro commodities from farmers, traders, and aggregators across assigned regions.
• Establish and manage collection points to ensure efficient aggregation of sourced commodities.
• Ensure timely consolidation of volumes in line with sourcing and dispatch plans.
Supplier Coordination
• Engage with suppliers to schedule collections and ensure readiness of commodities for pickup.
• Maintain strong working relationships with farmers, traders, and aggregators to ensure consistent supply flow.
• Communicate collection requirements, timelines, and expectations clearly to suppliers.
Quality Coordination at Collection Points
• Coordinate with Quality Officers to ensure quality checks are conducted at collection and aggregation points.
• Ensure non-conforming materials are segregated and not moved forward in the supply chain.
• Promote adherence to quality standards at the point of collection.
Logistics & Dispatch Coordination
• Coordinate with logistics teams for timely pickup and transportation of commodities from collection points to warehouses.
• Support route planning and scheduling to optimize collection efficiency and reduce delays.
• Ensure proper handover of goods with accurate documentation.
Inventory & Volume Tracking
• Maintain records of collected volumes, supplier deliveries, and stock at collection points.
• Track daily inflow of commodities and report against sourcing and collection targets.
• Ensure reconciliation of quantities between suppliers, collection points, and warehouses.
Documentation & Record Keeping
• Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities, supplier transactions, and dispatch records.
• Ensure all records are updated, verified, and aligned with company processes.
• Provide timely data for reporting and operational tracking
Issue Identification & Escalation
• Identify challenges in collection such as delays, shortages, or quality issues.
• Escalate critical issues to the Sourcing Manager and support resolution through on-ground coordination.
• Implement corrective actions to improve collection efficiency and reliability.
Job requirements
Required qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, or related field
Preferred qualifications
• Basic training in supply chain, logistics, or procurement
Required experience
• 2–5 years of experience in sourcing, collections, logistics, or agro commodity operations
Preferred experience
• Experience managing field collections and aggregation points
• Exposure to rural sourcing environments and supplier coordination
