Job Description

Our common goal

Procurement at Vitra is entering a new chapter - strengthening resilience, competitiveness, and regional sourcing capabilities. To support this journey, we are expanding our presence in Central & Eastern Europe through our Vitra Competence Center (VCC) in Szombathely. We are looking for a technically strong, self-directed sourcing professional who enjoys being on-site, understanding production realities, and identifying the right partners for a design-driven manufacturing environment. In this role, you will scout, assess, and develop suppliers across the CEE region, working closely with our global procurement organization and reporting directly to the Global Head of Procurement. This role is about initiative, technical understanding, and regional ownership.

What you can expect

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers across the CEE region for direct materials and production-related components (e.g. plastics, metal, wood, textiles, leather)
  • Conduct technical supplier assessments and audits to evaluate manufacturing capabilities, quality standards, scalability, and reliability
  • Support the gradual development of a competitive and resilient supplier base in the region
  • Work closely with strategic procurement, Quality, Logistics, and other functions - actively influencing supplier selection, performance, and integration decisions
  • Monitor regional market developments, cost trends, and supply risks, proactively identifying sourcing opportunities
  • Travel regularly within Hungary and the CEE region (typically 1–2 days per week depending on project needs)

How you can convince

  • Solid experience (min. 5 years) in sourcing, supplier development, or procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong technical understanding of materials and production processes (plastics, metal, wood, textiles, leather or similar)
  • Experience working with or developing suppliers in Central & Eastern Europe
  • Ability to work independently and structured in a regional role with high autonomy
  • Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with suppliers and internal stakeholders across functions and cultures
  • Willingness to travel within CEE and occasionally to other Vitra locations
  • Fluent in German or English (both are a strong advantage); additional Eastern European language skills are beneficial
  • A pragmatic, hands-on mindset combined with reliability and initiative

Enjoy working at Vitra

  • We offer a dynamic, creative, and innovative environment and pursue a sustainable corporate strategy
  • Office design is our specialty - our work environment offers space for creativity including areas for focus time
  • Welcome to Vitra - our orientation and welcome program
  • "How to work better" - our concept for the hybrid working world - enables mobile working in different facets
  • We promote lifelong learning through our internal academy and target group-oriented talent management programs
  • Benefit from attractive discounts on products from Vitra and Artek
