TheSourcing Managerleads end-to-end Source-to-Contract activities for assigned Indirect and Commercial Indirect categories, including Professional Services, HR, Facilities, Sales, and Marketing. The role develops and executes sourcing strategies aligned with Global Category Management and business priorities, identifies value opportunities across cost, demand, innovation, risk, and ESG, and leads supplier negotiations to deliver sustainable value for Takeda.
As part of Global Procurement, the Sourcing Manager acts as a strategic partner to business stakeholders, Procurement Centers of Excellence, Finance, Legal, and Takeda Business Solutions. The role owns sourcing initiatives within defined thresholds, manages supplier and stakeholder relationships, supports standardized ways of working, and flexes across categories as business needs require.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned Indirect and Commercial Indirect categories, aligned with category strategies and business priorities
  • Lead sourcing initiatives from demand intake through RFx execution, evaluation, negotiation, contract finalization, and handover to Operational Procurement
  • Identify and apply value levers, including cost optimization, demand management, innovation, risk mitigation, and ESG
  • Prepare sourcing events and coordinate with Central Finance on RFx execution and service delivery
  • Maintain the project pipeline in Wave and drive continuous improvement against quality, delivery, and performance targets
  • Act as the primary procurement interface for Marketing, Sales, HR, Facilities, and other indirect business stakeholders
  • Constructively challenge demand, specifications, scopes of work, and sourcing approaches to improve commercial and business outcomes
  • Promote procurement best practices, including preferred suppliers, scope-of-work optimization, and BuyEasy@Takeda
  • Lead negotiations and contract finalization within defined thresholds, using should-cost models, market benchmarks, and commercial analysis
  • Support supplier selection, segmentation, performance governance, relationship management, and escalation of supplier risks
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain and supplier risks, including development of contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies
  • Implement standardized sourcing templates, playbooks, workflows, and governance requirements
  • Identify opportunities to use automation, digital tools, generative AI, and agentic AI to simplify and improve sourcing processes
  • Support savings targets, value realization, compliance, benefits tracking, and KPI performance management
  • Ensure effective handover of sourcing inputs, outcomes, supplier information, and contract requirements to Operational Procurement
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 7+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or shared services
  • Strong experience in Indirect categories, particularly Professional Services, HR, Facilities, Sales, or Marketing; life sciences experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading sourcing initiatives, negotiations, contracting, supplier management, and value delivery
  • In-depth knowledge of strategic sourcing, commercial governance, supplier evaluation, risk management, and procurement compliance
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to develop negotiation strategies using should-cost models, benchmarks, and market insights
  • Experience managing complex, senior, and cross-functional stakeholders in a global, matrix, or shared-services environment
  • Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, influence decision-making, and collaborate effectively across functions
  • Strong communication, presentation, consulting, influencing, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with SAP Ariba or equivalent eSourcing tools; experience with Wavepipeline management is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience using generative or agentic AIto improve business or procurement processes
  • Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are an asset
PREFERRED
  • Postgraduate qualification, such as an MBA or MSc, and/or professional procurement certification
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated industries
  • Experience leading procurement transformation, standardization, digital enablement, or process improvement initiatives
  • Experience managing complex supplier relationships and executive-level negotiations
Some limited travel may be required.
