Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for an experienced Sourcing Buyer – Indirect Material, MRO & CAPEX at our Manufacturing Plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

The Sourcing Buyer – Indirect Material, MRO & CAPEX works as a commodity manager responsible for setting and executing commodity strategies across indirect materials, maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), and capital expenditures (CAPEX). This role manages a variety of purchase requests, including simple and complex RFQs, and is responsible for supplier selection, pricing, and contract negotiations.

This position develops and executes strategic supplier plans focused on reducing cost, maximizing inventory turns, shortening lead times, and improving overall business efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to lead and/or execute sourcing projects.
  • Solicits quotations from current and new suppliers. Verifies current specifications, drawing revisions and/or Statements of Work (SOW) are sent to suppliers and coordinates resolution of any technical questions between the supplier and Engineering/Quality and other requisitioning departments.
  • Prepares, evaluates and makes recommendations related to cost savings projects and new product programs.
  • Tracks commodity pricing and develops pricing analyses as input to price negotiations
  • Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders within the Busch Group to lead and/or execute sourcing projects.
  • Coordinates with Global Purchasing counterparts in Germany and Switzerland to solicit quotations and participate in global sourcing decisions.
  • Aids in the development of Supply Agreements and develops strategic pricing, inventory and delivery plans with major suppliers
  • Negotiates commercial issues with suppliers
  • Interfaces with Quality Assurance department to assure suppliers are reacting appropriately to quality issues.
  • Leads quality and delivery improvement projects with North American suppliers. Issues Supplier Corrective Action Requests for repeat or important delivery or quality nonconformities and follows up with suppliers to ensure effective measures are put in place to prevent future occurrences
  • Develops new suppliers to meet Busch supplier standards for quality, cost, delivery and partnership.
  • Maintains contact with suppliers, provides feedback regarding performance and cost initiatives. Coordinates with suppliers regarding visits to the Busch facilities and visits to supplier facilities
  • Aids Procurement Buyers in issuing purchase orders as needed and maintains pricing in SAP.
  • Aids Purchasing Planner with escalated expediting needs.
  • Follows Global Sourcing and Busch Manufacturing processes and procedures regarding above responsibilities and aids in the development of internal process improvements

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of manufacturing purchasing experience of a strategic nature (not tactical) in Indirect Material, MRO & CAPEX; including Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Spend Analytics: Required
  • Experience participating in and leading contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost reduction strategies required in Indirect Materials, MRO, CAPEX and Professional Services: Required (7 years’ experience preferred)
  • Awareness/understanding of legal aspects of business, purchasing, ethics: Preferred
  • Basic understanding of multiple types of components and commodities: Preferred
  • Experience negotiating with vendors and driving cost reduction initiatives: Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school): Required
    • Field of Study: Business, Supply Chain Management: Preferred
  • SAP ERP and ARIBA systems experience: Preferred
  • Moderate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and V-lookup functions) and Microsoft Word: Required
  • PowerPoint and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems experience: Required
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management): Preferred
  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) Certifications: Preferred
  • NLPA (Next Level Purchasing Association) Certification: Preferred

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Ability & willingness to travel up to 10% local, domestic and international to include overnights
  • Valid Drivers’ License must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards
  • Employment with Busch Vacuum Solutions requires current work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 5lbs
  • Constant standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 5lbs
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
  • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Work Environment

Primarily a climate-controlled office environment within a manufacturing facility, with occasional time spent in warehouse or shop floor areas. Exposure to moderate noise levels, fumes, dust, and moving mechanical parts may occur when supporting operations.
