Sourcing and Procurement Leader

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sourcing and Procurement Leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives to optimize costs, improve supplier relationships, and drive operational efficiencies within our maquiladora operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing and procurement leadership roles within the maquiladora or manufacturing industry.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of successfully developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers.
  • Foreign trade for the procurement function
  • Traffic management for procurement function
  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies aligned with company goals to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement process, including supplier performance management, contract management, and procurement policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate sourcing and procurement activities with overall business operations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to adapt sourcing strategies accordingly.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Compile necessary information for procurement operations, including project launches, initial machinery and equipment purchases, and supplier setups in the SAP system.
  • Collaborate with IT to develop procurement and warehouse operation reports.
  • Define metrics (KPIs) for the procurement area and generate monthly reports with action plans for improvement.
  • Develop and adhere to the department's budget, establishing SMART objectives for the team.
  • Maintain electronic folders for each supplier with relevant documents.
  • Develop an annual savings plan and monitor its progress.
  • Track supplier rejections and claims in collaboration with Quality, ensuring all analysis is conducted under the Total Landed Cost methodology.
  • Prepare periodic activity reports for personal and team activities.
  • Integrate engineering changes in a timely manner and supervise the development of the procurement team.
  • Communicate and coordinate any production shortages, conduct root cause analysis and finding solutions.
  • Keep supplier price databases updated and review exception reports for supplier payments to prevent delivery interruptions.
  • Define continuous improvement activities to optimize process efficiency and reduce costs.
