At Orlando Health Imaging Centers, our expert medical teams use advanced imaging tools that produce highly detailed images and precise results. Our facilities are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for our staff qualifications, image quality, safety policies and quality assurance. Your screening exam will be evaluated by a board-certified radiologist, providing you with a timely diagnosis and setting you on the quickest path to treatment and recovery.

A Day in YOUR Life as a Sonographer IIProvides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.

Location: 540 8th Street South, Suite 1100 St. Petersburg, FL 33701

Schedule: PRN (as needed)

  • Two (2) 10‑hour shifts on Monday and Friday
  • 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Flexibility to provide additional coverage during the week to support team member PTO is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality and adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age‑specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high‑quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.

Required Qualifications

  • Education/Training
    • Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.
  • Licensure/Certification
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
    • Maintains RDMS physics registry and a minimum of two ARDMS registries pertinent to the department.
  • Experience
    • One (1) year of experience in sonography. Knowledge of routine and complex ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, breast localization, and knowledge of Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography.
    • Routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to the department.
