Sonar Test Engineer

The Opportunity:

Support NAVSEA by providing engineering, testing, and integration support for sonar and acoustic systems across laboratory, OEM, and submarine environments. Conduct software performance testing to validate design specifications, support development activities, coordinate formal certification events, and serve as a subject matter resource to partners and vendors. Plan and execute sonar system test events, including operational demonstrations, contribute to automation testing and analysis, and drive quality through code and tool reviews that enable rigorous performance validation. This position is located in Manassas, VA.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience conducting software performance tests to validate design specifications for sonar and acoustic systems
• Knowledge of submarine sonar systems such as ARCI, APB, or TI, and core acoustic processing concepts
• Ability to interpret technical specifications
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively in dynamic environments
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
• Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, Physics, or a STEM field and 3+ years of experience as a technician, or 10+ years of experience as a technician in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:

• 10+ years of experience with ARCI submarine sonar
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ELM, MATLAB, Artifactory, Gerrit, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Python, VBA, and SharePoint
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience supporting Navy fleet troubleshooting, in-plant integration, and coordination with external vendors and stakeholders
• Experience working within Agile software development environments

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
