Job Description

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Sommelier to curate and manage our wine program. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of wine varieties, pairings, regions, and vintages, and will deliver exceptional guest experiences by recommending, serving, and educating guests about wines. The sommelier also plays a key role in inventory management, staff training, and revenue optimization. **Key Responsibilities:** • Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings to guests based on their preferences, dietary restrictions, and menu selections.

• Deliver high-level table service and enhance the guest dining experience with wine education, storytelling, and personalized service. • Curate and develop the wine list in collaboration with management and culinary staff to reflect restaurant concept and guest preferences.
• Train and educate front-of-house staff on wine service standards, food and wine pairings, and wine list knowledge. • Manage wine inventory, including receiving, storage, stock rotation, and organization of the wine cellar. • Monitor wine sales performance, analyze trends, and assist in meeting revenue targets and profitability goals.
• Ensure all wines are served at proper temperatures and stored in optimal conditions using appropriate cellar management systems. • Organize and execute wine tastings, pairing events, and educational seminars for guests and staff. • Develop and maintain relationships with wine vendors, distributors, and producers to source quality selections and negotiate pricing.
• Conduct cost analysis on wine selections and provide recommendations to optimize margins while maintaining quality standards. • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop innovative wine and food pairing strategies for special menus and events. • Stay current with wine trends, emerging producers, new vintages, and industry developments through continued education and professional development.

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:** • Certification from a recognized wine education body (e.g., WSET, CMS, or equivalent) • Proven experience as a sommelier or in a wine-focused hospitality role

• Exceptional knowledge of wines, wine service, and food pairing principles • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and engage diverse guests • Excellent organizational and inventory management abilities • Demonstrated proficiency in POS systems and Microsoft Office • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant schedule

**Preferred Qualifications:** • Advanced wine certification or sommelier credentials (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 3 or higher)

• Passion for customer service and fine dining with a proven track record of enhancing guest experiences • Experience in wine list development, curation, and menu collaboration • Knowledge of cellar management systems and wine storage best practices • Demonstrated ability to conduct wine tastings, educational seminars, and special events • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating with wine distributors and producers
• Strong analytical skills with experience in cost analysis, margin optimization, and revenue performance monitoring • Proven ability to train and mentor front-of-house staff on wine service standards and product knowledge • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with wine industry trends and emerging producers
