The SHI Services Solutions Engineer, Data Visualization, is a core contributor within our Microsoft Data and AI practice, responsible for designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade data visualization and analytics solutions using Microsoft technologies. This role focuses on transforming complex data into clear, accessible, and actionable insights that drive business outcomes.
This position is ideal for a technically strong consultant who combines deep Power BI expertise with human-centered design principles and strong client engagement skills. The Solutions Engineer works closely with data engineers, architects, project managers, and client stakeholders to deliver scalable analytics solutions that meet business, accessibility, security, and governance requirements.

Design and deliver enterprise Power BI analytics solutions, including dashboards, reports, and semantic models, aligned to business objectives and user needs.
Leverage Tabular Editor, Power Query, and DAX to create optimized dataflows, semantic models, and complex calculations for scalable analytics solutions.
Apply human-centered design (HCD) principles and information design best practices to promote intuitive user experiences and maximize data understanding.
Ensure all deliverables align with WCAG 2 or 508 accessibility standards within the tool capabilities, supporting inclusive analytics that align with user needs.
Lead discovery sessions and collaborate with architects, data engineers, and client stakeholders to translate business questions into effective analytics solutions.
Implement governance, security, and access controls, including Row Level Security and role-based access in compliance with client requirements.
Support client adoption through documentation, training, and post-implementation support.
Contribute reusable assets, standards, and best practices to the Data and AI consulting practice.
Maintain accountability for deliverables, proactively managing risks, dependencies, and quality.
Provide ongoing support for post-implementation activities, including troubleshooting, minor adjustments, and client queries.

Skill Level Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, UX Design, Information Design, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
Three or more years of experience delivering enterprise analytics solutions using Power BI, including semantic modeling, DAX, and performance optimization.
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and experience working with relational data sources using SQL or equivalent query languages.
Demonstrated application of human centered design principles in analytics or visualization solutions.
Experience working in a consulting or enterprise delivery environment with direct client engagement.
Ability to independently manage multiple deliverables across concurrent projects.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy concepts in analytics solutions.
Commitment to continuous learning in Microsoft cloud and analytics technologies.
Eligible to work in environments handling sensitive government or healthcare data (background check may be required).
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in modern Microsoft cloud technologies and consulting practices.
Preferred Skill Level Requirements
Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL 300).
Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP 600) or obtain within the first year.
Experience working with Microsoft Fabric and Azure analytics services.
Advanced proficiency with Tabular Editor and semantic model lifecycle management.
In-depth understanding of WCAG 2 or 508 accessibility standards and their application in data reporting solutions.
Experience creating custom visuals using Deneb or similar frameworks.
Familiarity with ETL concepts, dimensional modeling, and enterprise analytics architectures.
Experience supporting analytics solutions in regulated or security conscious environments.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and its integration with Power BI for advanced analytics.
Advanced proficiency in Tabular Editor or similar tools for semantic model design and management.
Understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL processes, dimensional modeling, and integration with cloud data platforms.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data projects, including secure data handling and compliance requirements.
Knowledge of Azure Data Lake Storage, Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and related Microsoft cloud ecosystem components.
Exposure to data governance practices and the implementation of role-based access controls in analytics solutions.
Exposure to managing access to data leveraging Row Level Security (RLS) and role-based access to reporting artifacts through Power BI apps with internal and external stakeholders.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $144,000 - $169,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
