JD for Solutions Design Lead at Involve Learning Solutions Foundation
At Involve, we’re on a mission to bring students to the center of their own learning journeys. We believe that when students are trusted, supported, and given space to lead, they don’t just learn better they thrive.
We started back in 2018 when our founders, Divanshu and Samyak, both fresh out of IIT Madras, chose to skip placements and instead build something that mattered. They envisioned classrooms where students weren’t just passive listeners, but active participants—teaching, mentoring, leading, and growing together.
Today, that vision is alive and growing. We’ve worked with almost 1 million students across government schools in six Indian states. Our core program, Peer Teaching, trains senior students to mentor their juniors in foundational skills like reading and math. But it’s about more than academics—it’s about building confidence, communication, problem-solving, and agency. Because we believe agency is the key to breaking cycles of inequality and helping young people truly own their futures. Over the next 5 years we look forward to creating impact for 10 million children across the length and breadth of India!
We work hand-in-hand with state and district governments in places like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Karnataka. We’ve been lucky to be backed by incredible partners like the Agency Fund, Acumen, Central Square Foundation, and Wells Fargo. And along the way, we’ve been recognized by platforms like HundrED and Reimagine Education for doing things differently—and effectively.
But honestly, what keeps us going is our students. The girl who ran her first peer-led session with shaky hands and a steady voice. The boy who found his voice helping his classmates. The thousands of stories that remind us every day why this work matters.
of the Role:
We are looking for someone who is fundamentally curious about how learning works, and restless enough to keep redesigning it until it truly does.
As Solutions Design Lead, you will sit at the intersection of research, design, and field reality. You will own the end-to-end process of understanding what teachers, students, and system actors actually need, and translating that into solutions that are practical, scalable, and impactful.
This is not a role for someone who is comfortable with the status quo. We want someone who challenges conventional educational thinking, experiments with new ideas, and builds systems that outlast any single programme cycle
What will you do:
1. Research & Problem Discovery
Lead primary and secondary research to deeply understand the needs, contexts, and constraints of our stakeholders - teachers, students, BEOs, DIET officials, CRPs, and Head Teachers.
Synthesise field insights, data, and literature into clear problem statements that drive solution design.
Build and maintain an evidence & learning agenda for the solutions team: what are we trying to know, how will we find it out, and what will we do with what we learn?
Map existing resources, approaches, and innovations - globally and locally - to identify gaps that Involve is uniquely positioned to address.
Conduct structured field visits, interviews, and observations as a routine part of your work.
2. Innovation & Solution Design
Design student-centred solutions that develop agency, voice, and ownership in learners, not just academic skill.
Challenge conventional education design and bring in approaches that are participatory, context-sensitive, and adaptive.
Apply design thinking principles: prototype early, test with real users, fail fast iterate with rigour on new solutions in real classroom and school environments, using feedback loops to improve quality before scale.
Create and curate diverse solution assets: Courses, Session Plans, Case Studies, Handbooks, Tools, Projects, and more, for both student and adult learning contexts.
Design for adult learners (Teachers, CRP, BEO, DIET Officials) with the same intentionality as for students.
Explore how technology can enhance or extend our solutions - including digital tools, low-tech integrations, or data-driven feedback mechanisms. You do not have to build tech, but you should be able to think with it and collaborate with those who do.
3. Codification & Systems Building
Develop standards, frameworks, and templates that enable the Field team and Education Department officials to design and implement solutions at scale, without losing quality.
Document learning design processes so that solutions can be replicated, adapted, and built upon by others.
Create institutional knowledge that makes Involve smarter as an organisation, turning field experience into codified practice.
Create knowledge products such as structured documents, playbooks, guides and reference tools, that would make Involve’s learning design approach accessible and transferable to partners, government stakeholders, peer organisations.
4. Partnerships & External Learning
Identify and cultivate external partnerships with organisations, researchers, and practitioners whose work can enrich our solutions.
Stay plugged into the broader education ecosystem, what’s being tried, what’s working, and what we should be paying attention to.
Apply If you have:
Student centered conviction: You genuinely believe students are capable of leading their own learning when given the right conditions. And it should show up in every solution you build.
Education: An undergraduate degree in any stream is a must; a master’s degree is a plus
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing education programs, learning solutions, instructional design or curriculum. Experience leading projects independently is preferred.
Design Sensibility: You can translate messy field realities, and complex stakeholder needs into structured, elegant and usable solutions.
Communication: Strong oral and written communication in English and Hindi.
Strong work Ethics: Punctuality, Sense of environment, self-driven and alignment with organizational values
Codification skills: You can document, systematise, and make your thinking accessible so others can build on it.
Experience in working with teachers, CRPs, and other government stakeholders is a plus
Demonstrates hunger to solve problems and drive solutions
