One of our clients is looking for a Solutions Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise technology solutions, working closely with clients and an international team of highly skilled software engineers. This position combines approximately 50% pre-sales and architecture design with 50% project delivery and hands-on technical leadership. The position offers a flexible hybrid work style (3 times / week remotly). Annual salary: JPY 7,500,000 – 15,000,000, depending on experience and skills. The company works on complex technology projects involving cloud-native architecture, backend systems, system modernization, and digital transformation for enterprise clients, including financial institutions. The engineering environment is highly international, with many senior engineers coming from different countries and backgrounds. English is frequently used for technical discussions and collaboration within the engineering organization. The company combines strong software engineering capabilities with a client-oriented approach, allowing engineers and architects to work directly on both solution design and actual implementation. About the Position As a Solutions Architect, you will bridge client requirements and technical implementation, working across both pre-sales solution design and actual project delivery. Approximately 50% of the role will involve working alongside the sales team to understand client challenges, structure technical requirements, design cloud-native architectures, and develop technical proposals. The other 50% will involve participating directly in projects as a Technical Lead, including detailed architecture design, hands-on development, code reviews, and engineering quality management. Rather than being limited to proposals and architecture diagrams, this position allows you to remain closely involved with the actual engineering and implementation of the solutions you design. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the sales team on technical proposals for enterprise clients, including financial institutions Understand clients’ business and technical challenges and translate them into structured technical requirements Design cloud-native architectures using AWS, Azure, and/or GCP Create architecture diagrams and technical documentation Design migration phases, implementation approaches, high-level estimates, and project schedules Conduct technical feasibility discussions with internal engineering teams Participate directly in client projects as a Technical Lead Lead detailed architecture and system design Contribute hands-on to software development and implementation Conduct code reviews and help ensure engineering quality Collaborate with senior engineers from an international engineering organization Explore and apply Generative AI technologies to improve development processes and engineering productivity Why Apply? Requirements Requirements Must Have Professional experience in web application development, with a strong focus on backend development Experience with architecture design and technology selection Practical experience designing systems using cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP Experience communicating directly with clients and stakeholders Strong documentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders and prepare technical proposals Business-level Japanese, as direct communication with Japanese enterprise clients is required Nice to Have Pre-sales or technical consulting experience within an IT consulting firm or SIer Knowledge or experience in the financial industry, particularly core banking systems, payment systems, or related financial platforms Business-level English Experience working with international engineering teams Experience or strong interest in Generative AI / LLM technologies Experience improving software development processes using emerging technologies Experience with system modernization or migration from legacy environments to modern cloud architectures Ideal Profile Able to understand both client requirements and technical requirements and translate between the two Comfortable working directly with enterprise clients Able to collaborate effectively with multinational engineering teams Respects existing systems and client environments while being able to design realistic paths toward modern technologies Wants to remain hands-on technically rather than moving exclusively into management Comfortable taking ownership beyond narrowly defined responsibilities Interested in cloud architecture, modern software engineering, and Generative AI Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment Benefits Benefits Working Environment & Benefits Annual salary: JPY 7.5M – 15M Flexible hybrid work: office or remote work (2 times per week at office).
