Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Serve as an Engineering Services (ES) resource collaborating with COC to support the innovation and commercialization of new solutions for strategic hyperscale data center (HSDC) customers. This role contributes to new product design activities including gathering customer requirements, supporting concept development with AIR and Market Development teams, coordinating prototype efforts with Corning Technology, and creating supporting documentation. The position requires understanding customer priorities, market needs, and competitive activity to help inform solution development and reduce risk to Corning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Engineering Services solution development for strategic HSDC customers.Understand customer innovation priorities and align solutions to customer needs.
  • Support HSDC leaders, PMO managers, Market Development, and other stakeholders to help meet innovation needs.
  • Engage customers and internal stakeholders to understand issues, document requirements, identify opportunities, and align solutions with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Document customer use cases and support Technology during design and development.
  • Provide technical input to support IP/patent development with Technology.Identify installation failure modes for new products and help develop mitigation plans or training materials.
  • Train customer engineers, design firms, and installers on new products, solutions, and installation methods.
  • Establish procedures for handling, installation, and testing of innovation products.
  • Support field trials for new product initiatives.Identify new innovation use cases during field activities.Provide design input for software configurators and other design tools.
  • Align manufacturing capabilities with customer requirements.
  • Support PLM with part number creation and order process documentation.
  • Deliver internal training and knowledge sharing for assigned innovation projects.
  • Collect and present installation data from trials and deployments to support value propositions.
  • Assist Marketing and Sales with case studies and collateral for new innovations.

Education/Skills - Required

  • BS in Engineering Related Studies (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Optics)
  • 1+ years of telecommunications, data center, or related industry experience
  • Project management/project coordination experience preferredTelecom manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear customer-facing and internal communications
  • Effective communicator able to deliver messages through various methods
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic products, structured cabling systems, and installation practices
  • Fluent English language skills, both spoken and written
  • Ability to manage tasks effectively in a changing environment
  • Results-oriented with a strong commitment to task completion
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours when necessary
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Dedicated to meeting internal and external customer expectations
  • Detail-oriented and conscientious
  • Willing to remain in the position for a minimum of two years
  • Able to pass a background check, drug screening, and driving record check
  • Must not be color blind; distinct color acuity is required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Travel up to 25%

The range for this position is $82,974.00 - $114,090.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
