Solutions Architect

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Drug Innovation Domain Solution Architect (SME) serves as a critical bridge between pharmaceutical knowledge and the technological, data, and analytical solutions within the Drug Innovation Platform. This role provides expert guidance in translating complex scientific, clinical, and regulatory knowledge into actionable insights, technology requirements, and data strategies. The SME ensures that the platform’s initiatives, programs, and solutions are aligned with the evolving needs of the drug discovery and development lifecycle, enhancing the organization’s ability to bring innovative therapies to market. The Drug Innovation SME collaborates closely with scientists, engineers, data experts, and business stakeholders to ensure that technology implementations are effective and strategically relevant to the industry.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Architectural Design and Development

• Design end-to-end solutions that meet business requirements.
• Develop and maintain architectural blueprints and documentation.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with business leaders, product managers, and development teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies clearly.

Technology Evaluation and Integration

• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and frameworks from the aligned IT portfolio and technology stack.
• Develop designs to integrate new technologies into existing systems and infrastructure.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure that the necessary performance standards of the target solution are clearly defined.
• Establish methods to ensure the desired quality can be measured and managed.

Risk Management

• Identify potential risks in the architecture of a solution and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.

Mentorship and Leadership

• Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams.
• Lead architectural discussions and promote best practices within the team.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated with the latest technology trends and industry bet practices.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve architectural processes and solutions.

WHO YOU ARE:

• Advanced degree in Life Sciences (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, MSc) or related field, with strong knowledge of pharmaceutical research and drug development. Supplementary qualifications in technology, data science, or business administration are advantageous.
• 5-10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry, with a focus on drug development, clinical research, or regulatory affairs.
• Experience working with technology solutions in life sciences, such as data platforms, AI/ML applications, or clinical systems.
• Proven track record of collaborating with technology and data teams to deliver impactful solutions in drug innovation.
• Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Knowledge:

• In-depth understanding of the drug development lifecycle, including discovery, clinical trials, and regulatory submissions.
• Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and quality practices (e.g., GxP, CDISC, ICH).

• Ability to translate life sciences requirements into technical requirements for data integration, analytics, and software development.
• Knowledge of data science concepts, machine learning models, and analytics tools relevant to pharmaceutical applications.
• Proven ability to work across disciplines, building consensus among stakeholders with diverse backgrounds (e.g., scientists, engineers, business leaders).
• Strong interpersonal skills for facilitating communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex scientific and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience delivering training, workshops, and presentations to enhance knowledge and skills across teams.
• Ability to anticipate challenges, identify solutions, and drive decision-making processes to resolve complex issues.
• Strategic mindset to align technology, data, and scientific initiatives with business goals.
• Commitment to staying current with industry advancements, emerging science, and technology trends.
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving program needs and changing regulatory landscapes.
