Job Description

As a Solutions Analyst at StarTech.com, you’ll play a key role in shaping how technology solutions are defined, prioritized, and delivered across the business. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with a variety of stakeholders, and seeing their work move from idea to real-world impact.

You’ll partner closely with business teams and delivery partners to understand needs, translate them into clear requirements, and support the successful delivery of solutions. From early discovery through requirements, build, testing and release, you’ll be involved across the full lifecycle, gaining exposure to how technology initiatives are planned, built, and delivered.

In this role, you’ll start by supporting initiatives while building your core business analysis and delivery skills. As you grow, you’ll take on more complex and ambiguous challenges, working alongside the Program Delivery Manager and team members to evaluate options, document recommendations, and contribute to effective, scalable solutions.

This role is primarily focused on requirements definition, with additional involvement in delivery coordination, testing, and change activities.

This position is being filled as a replacement within the Program Delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Discovery & Requirements: Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements through stakeholder interviews/workshops and review of existing processes and documentation. Translate needs into user and technical stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Value Assessment, Prioritization & Strategic Challenge: Play a key role in helping stakeholders make informed decisions by assessing and articulating the business value, outcomes, and ROI of proposed initiatives and requests. Partner with stakeholders to define success metrics, quantify benefits, and evaluate trade-offs across competing priorities. Constructively challenge assumptions, scope, and solution approaches to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and maximize value delivery. Recommend prioritization based on impact, feasibility, and organizational goals.
  • Backlog & Delivery Support:
  • Contribute to backlog refinement activities with business owners, developers, and QA. Coordinate dependencies, clarify scope, support estimating activities, and contribute to release readiness under the guidance of the Program Delivery Manager.
  • Testing, UAT & Validation: Partner with QA and UAT by clarifying requirements, validating outcomes against acceptance criteria, logging and tracking defects/feedback, and confirming readiness for release.
  • Change, Communications & Training: Contribute to change impact assessments, process documentation, release notes, and end-user communication and training materials to support adoption.
  • Agile Ceremonies, Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Participate in agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, planning, stand-ups, , reviews, and retrospectives).
  • Documentation
  • Maintain accurate documentation and status updates, and escalate risks/issues to the Program Delivery Manager as needed.

Decision Making & Autonomy

The Solutions Analyst works under general direction and follows established processes, methodologies, and documentation standards. Day-to-day decision-making focuses on prioritizing assigned tasks, clarifying requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation. Scope changes, priority conflicts, and higher-impact decisions are escalated to the Program Delivery Manager. You’ll operate with guidance and established practices, while building toward greater ownership of requirements and analysis activities over time.

Relationships & Communication

The role works closely with business stakeholders, developers, QA/UAT resources, and project team members. Communication is primarily focused on information sharing, requirement clarification, and collaboration to support delivery outcomes. The Solutions Analyst may handle technical and/or confidential information and is expected to do so in accordance with company policies, required approvals, and established security practices.

Education & Experience

  • 1–4 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Junior Business Analyst, Project Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Exposure to technology projects, system implementations, or process improvement initiatives is an asset.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Asana, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Teams (or similar collaboration and agile tooling) is an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., business analysis, project management, or agile) are considered an asset but are not required.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to ask effective questions and summarize information clearly.
  • Foundational understanding of business analysis concepts and agile delivery practices.
  • Ability to document requirements and processes (e.g., user and technical stories, process flows, acceptance criteria) with attention to detail.
  • Strong organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable using common productivity and collaboration tools and learning new systems quickly.
  • Critical thinking, with the confidence to ask “why” and constructively challenge assumptions.

Physical & Sensory Demands

  • Standard office environment with extensive computer use.
  • Requires extended periods of concentration, frequent meetings (virtual and in-person), and routine documentation work.
  • Occasional repetitive tasks related to documentation, analysis, and project tracking.
