Your Role

As Project Engineering Manager – Protection, Automation & Control, you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of Control, Protection and Substation Automation scopes for Grid Automation projects executed for the UK region. The role covers technical leadership, execution governance, stakeholder coordination, and techno-commercial responsibility across project and tender phases.

Key Responsibilities

·Overall responsibility for execution of Protection, Automation and Control engineering scopes for substation / grid automation projects for the different global region.

·Lead and coordinate Control, Protection and Substation Automation activities during project execution, ensuring compliance with reiognal standards and customer specifications.

·Define, plan, and assign work packages to engineering teams including scope, schedule, cost, and resource allocation in coordination with discipline leads.

·Plan and monitor engineering schedules and milestones for PAC software, hardware, HMI activities in line with overall project timelines.

·Drive technical concepts and solutions in collaboration with system engineering, equipment engineering, auxiliary systems, telecom, cybersecurity and site teams.

·Lead preparation of technical tender documents, engineering concepts, BOQs, and scope definitions for PAC systems during bid and proposal phases.

·Technical evaluation of vendor and subcontractor offers for PAC systems and services; support commercial evaluation in coordination with purchasing and project management.

·Ensure adherence to Siemens Energy quality processes, regional grid codes, and customer requirements across engineering and execution phases.

·Provide technical leadership in project decision-making, risk and opportunity management, and interface alignment with internal and external stakeholders.

·Monitor and control project KPIs related to schedule, cost, quality, and engineering progress; report status to project and line management.

·Support factory acceptance tests (FAT), site activities, commissioning, and handover in coordination with site and commissioning teams.

·Act as technical escalation point for customers, partners, and internal teams for Protection, Automation and Control topics.

Qualifications & Experience

·Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

·12+ years of experience in Protection, Control and Substation Automation engineering and project execution for HV / EHV substations.

·Strong experience in turnkey grid automation projects including tendering and execution phases.

·Hands-on knowledge of protection relays, bay controllers, substation automation systems and IEC 61850 architectures.

·Exposure to UK grid requirements, customer standards, and utility-driven engineering practices is a strong advantage.

·Experience with Siemens PAC portfolio such as SIPROTEC, Zenon SCADA, DIGSI, fault recorders, RTU and related tools is preferred.

·Strong understanding of techno-commercial optimization and the interaction between engineering design and project economics.

·Proven ability to work in multicultural, global delivery environments and interface with international stakeholders.

·Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

·Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Visio and MS Project.

Location & Scope

This role is based in Pune India and focuses on projects executed for the UK and Europe region. You will collaborate closely with UK customers, regional project teams, and global engineering hubs, contributing to critical infrastructure projects that shape the future of energy systems.
