Solution Engineering Lead – Primary Engineering

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Solution Engineer – Primary Engineering, you will play a key role in the engineering and design of High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations, supporting the successful execution of power transmission and distribution projects across industries, data centers, utilities, and grid substations.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing primary engineering solutions for AIS substations up to 765kV and GIS substations up to 400kV. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Secondary Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Customers to deliver technically optimized, compliant, and cost-effective solutions. Your technical expertise will contribute to ensuring quality, reliability, safety, and operational excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

We are looking for a passionate and technically strong electrical engineering professional with experience in substation primary engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within diverse project teams.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Prepare Design Basis Reports and technical specifications for electrical systems.

• Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLD), substation layouts, sections, and arrangements for various bus configurations.

• Design electrical clearance diagrams, cable containment systems, and earthing systems.

• Perform DSLP and grounding design calculations in compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

• Conduct conductor sizing, short-circuit force calculations, and sag-tension calculations for transmission and substation applications.

• Perform sizing calculations and equipment selection for Transformers, MV/LV Switchgear, DC Systems, Battery Systems, Battery Chargers, and UPS systems.

• Support preparation of customer proposals, Bill of Materials (BOM), Request for Quotations (RFQs), and technical documentation.

• Review customer specifications and perform vendor drawing reviews for EHV equipment, transformers, cables, and associated systems.

• Collaborate with Secondary Engineering teams and support mechanical system design activities.

• Coordinate engineering interfaces with Civil, Mechanical, Protection, and Substation Automation System (SAS) teams.

• Participate in offer reviews, technical discussions, and engineering clarifications with customers and internal stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with applicable Indian and international standards, project specifications, and quality requirements.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing engineering quality, efficiency, and standardization.

• Contribute to successful project execution by providing innovative and technically optimized engineering solutions.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering.

• Experience in Primary Engineering for AIS and GIS Substation Projects serving Industrial, Data Center, State Electricity Board (SEB), and Grid Substation customers.

• Experience related to AIS Substations up to 765kV and GIS Substations up to 400kV is preferred.

• Strong understanding of primary engineering design principles for HV and EHV substations.

• Expertise in preparation of SLDs, layouts, sections, electrical clearance diagrams, cable containment systems, and earthing designs.

• Knowledge of equipment sizing and selection for Transformer, MV, LV, DC, Battery, Battery Charger, and UPS systems.

• Familiarity with conductor sizing, short-circuit force calculations, and sag-tension calculations.

• Understanding of load flow studies, short-circuit studies, and relay coordination principles will be an added advantage.

• Basic understanding of Protection Systems, Substation Automation Systems (SAS), and Auxiliary System Design.

• Working knowledge of Indian and International standards and regulations relevant to substation engineering.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, MS Office, and other engineering design tools.

• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
