Job Description
The Role
Esri is hiring a Solution Engineer to join the Infrastructure team, working across electric, gas, and telecommunications accounts. This is a technical role with a customer-facing seat at the table. You won't own the account or the revenue number. That's the Account Manager's job. Instead, you'll be the person building the demo, running the prototype, and showing the customer exactly what's possible with ArcGIS in their environment.
This role is for someone technical who wants to be in front of customers, translating architecture and analysis into a story that lands with both engineers and executives.
What You'd Actually Be Doing
- Build relationships. Present, demo, and support the sale of Esri software as part of the account team. Help shape and carry out sales strategy alongside your Account Manager.
- Be an expert. Develop real subject matter expertise in electric, gas, and/or telecom, paired with deep technical knowledge of ArcGIS. Speak with authority about Esri technology and stay ahead of the trends shaping your customers' industry.
- Solve problems. Design solutions that connect a customer's operational challenges to specific GIS capabilities, showing them the business value in terms they care about. Build strategies that align Esri technology with what the customer is actually trying to accomplish.
- Tell the story. Run technical demonstrations for both technical and non-technical audiences. Share best practices on deploying and administering Esri technology. Represent Esri at conferences and trade shows.
What You Need to Have
- 2+ years working in Esri technology: mapping, spatial analysis, web app configuration
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in electric, gas, or telecom
- A working knowledge of ArcGIS from the IT side, meaning you understand hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, and cloud computing, not just the front end
- Background in technical consulting and conceptual solution design, with enough exposure to sales and business development process to know how a deal moves
- Experience with geodatabases and the DBMS underneath them
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, specifically Azure or AWS
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills
- Willingness to travel domestically or internationally 25 to 50%
- A bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field
- Authorization to work for any U.S. employer. Esri is not sponsoring visas for this posting.
