The Solution Architect Team Manager works within the Professional Services organisation, with the primary focus being on management and leadership of the Solution Architect team. The role ensures that target operating models and budgetary requirements are met via an ongoing focus on utilisation, productivity, and resource management processes.

Responsibilities

Line Management

  • To work with and follow the guidance of the Technical Services Manager.

  • To work alongside the Principal Solution Architect.

  • To perform a line management function for the Solution Architect (SA) team for which you are responsible.

  • Lead on the critical HR functions, recruitment, retention, performance management, training and development, in conjunction with our HR partners.

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to the Solution Architects.

  • Hold regular 1-2-1 meetings with the Solution Architects.

  • Ensure there are appropriate meetings within the SA team to ensure good communication.

  • Ensure sufficient face to face meetings are scheduled and required to ensure effective communication and team building.

  • Co-ordinate the training of and training material for, Solution Architects.

  • Authorising timesheet tasks/leave/overtime and expenses.

  • Plan and agree resourcing with Project Managers with a view to driving projects forward.

  • Ensuring the maintenance of the skills matrix for each SA team member.

  • Involvement in projects that are designed to improve the efficiency and agility of the professional services function.

AI Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess opportunities where AI and machine learning can improve operational efficiency, decision-making, or user experience

  • Assess risks associated with AI usage, including data quality, bias, model transparency, and operational impact, and ensure appropriate mitigations are designed in.

  • Drive AI adoption and improvement within the Solution Architect team by ensuring focus on AI usage in all possible areas.

  • Stay informed on emerging AI capabilities and tools, advising on practical, value-driven adoption rather than technology for its own sake

Resource Management

  • Play an integral part in implementing and supporting the delivery of work allocation processes, building and maintaining tools.

  • Forecasting, planning and day-to-day deployment of Solution Architects to matters, balancing the needs of the business/programme with the development needs of the professional services team member.

  • Monitoring utilisation and billable activity for all SA team members on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, highlighting and addressing potential under/over utilisation.

  • Championing the use of alternative resources including utilising support at other offices or the company's additional business lines.

  • Maintaining information on staff movements, monitoring of joiners, leavers, maternity, paternity etc. and annual leave tracking.

  • Challenge requests appropriately and manage potential resource escalations.

  • Data analysis and reporting of forecasted capacity, utilisation, resource availability, and skill sets.

  • Drive updates to CliniSys’ Delivery Operating Model (known as the “method”), including process and templates, quantifying key components of activity associated with solution delivery and driving efficiencies.

  • Build strong relationships with the other technical teams, project managers and programme managers/directors to create foresight into project/programme resourcing requirements to drive the optimisation of utilisation.

  • Update and report on capacity planning for future workforce planning.

  • Support Project Managers and the PMO to consolidate and update project finances.

  • Consolidate monthly status reports, using the content to produce & publish professional services portfolio plans.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Personable, with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues at a senior level as well as able to lead and inspire a large team.

  • Committed and highly motivated organised individual, capable of working independently and as part of a team

  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver quality outputs, to tight deadlines, and to communicate competing demands effectively.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid understanding of project methodologies, tools and techniques, including planning, RAID and change management

  • Commercial and risk focussed with good operational business acumen

  • Ability to influence resource management through presentation of information that is timely and informative through to C-suite level

  • Strong stakeholder management capability

  • MS Office skills, Outlook and Word

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and MS Teams

Required Experience & Education

  • Significant proven experience (5 years or more) in a management/leadership position.

  • Some degree of technical knowledge/background.

  • Demonstrable track record of effective formal HR management, both first line and in a supporting role.

  • Demonstrable formal management training or equivalent middle management experience.

  • Experience within an IT or healthcare provider organisation preferred.

  • Understanding of Pathology LIMS systems and their use.

This role requires a working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and the ability to leverage them to improve processes and outcomes. A core understanding of AI concepts is required and must be able to demonstrate the use of AI tools in a professional setting.

Onboarding
As part of our onboarding process, all new employees will be required to attend / travel to the office on their first day of employment. This requirement is essential for onboarding activities, including the identity verification, completion of necessary documentation, receiving your IT equipment, introductions to key team members, and orientation to Clinisys policies and procedures.
