Reporting to the Distribution Automation (DA) Solution Manager, this position will play a pivotal role in supporting and developing solutions to improve the reliability and availability of power distribution grids. As part of the presales team, you will apply your technical skillset to support all the products within the Hitachi Energy portfolio suitable for Distribution Automation such as IEDs, RTUs, Wireless and SCADA systems.
As a Solution Architect – Distribution Automation, you will be responsible for the design, integrity and quality of a Distribution Automation Solution and of associated systems delivered to customers operating digital distribution grids.
You will support the local sales in the HUBs in the early engagement of distribution automation opportunities by providing technical consultancy, present solution concepts addressing the key challenges of the targeted customer, demo end to end solution proposals, lead the process to proof of concepts in the technical pre-qualification process. You will analyze requirement specifications to translate these to a solution proposal. And identify technical gaps and respond to technical clarification to be discussed with customers.
You will drive innovation and best practices in our solution, coaching local team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in the design of distribution automation solutions.
The role will support APAC countries; therefore business travel flexibility is required.
How you’ll make an impact:
You will develop expertise in distribution system automation, and all related Hitachi Energy products, help customers apply Hitachi Energy products to their distribution electrical network through visits, demonstrations, training courses, and email contact.
You will contribute to product specifications, application and customer acceptance of Distribution Automation systems, products and applications, provide technical leadership for Sales teams in distribution power system, protection and control solutions during the technical meeting, product presentations and negotiations.
You will support bid/no bid analyses and decisions, participate in project risk review processes, direct relations with customers, channel partners, system Integrators, distributors, potential third party suppliers, support sales organizations during the technical meetings, product presentations and negotiations, ensure technical links with factories and global product managers.
You will offer product/solution/service-related training, perform trainings internally and externally on promoted products and applications.
You will lead, drive and hold itself accountable for the highest standards of health, safety and environment to ensure Zero Harm is achieved, responsible for compliance with relevant HSE policy and procedures, ensuring proactive risk assessments take place and corrective actions monitored/followed up, build an injury, incident, near miss and hazard reporting culture within the team, guaranteeing reported incidents will be investigated and action taken, create a workplace where everyone views health, safety and environment as the most important non-negotiable value of your business.
You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:
Engineering qualification – electrical or equivalent.
Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience with protection relay, Remote Terminal Unit (RTUs), Wireless and SCADA system; especially in Distribution grids and electrical networks.
Proven proficiency in at least two of three key areas: distribution automation, protection, or communication systems.
Deep knowledge of industry protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 104/101) and compliance standards (ANSI, IEEE, ISO 27001, IEC 62443).
Demonstrated ability to design and implement end-to-end solutions involving PLC applications, IED configurations, and 4G/5G/IoT networking.
Strong skills in technical writing, including the preparation of concept documents and whitepapers for industry conferences.
Advanced computer skills across Office 365 , MS Office, MS Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Salesforce, excellent written and verbal English communication skills, high attention to detail.
Flexible for business travel of up to 20 % per year, within APAC Region.
