Job Description

Worldline NZ (formerly known as Paymark) is New Zealand’s leading electronic payments company, and Kiwis rely on us to ensure that electronic purchasing is available wherever purchases for goods and services need to be made. In our history to date, we have put through 28 billion transactions, worth an estimated $1 trillion, and worked with over 84,000 merchants.

Our team is on a journey to build a digital platform around continuous integration, continuous deployment and cloud-based systems built in microservice architecture. You will work on important projects responsible for digitising payments — so that Kiwis can transact easily from a range of devices, no matter the location, enabling NZ to move towards a cashless society.

You will be responsible for architecting and governing the digital solutions that underpin our product strategy, encompassing product experience, operational considerations, data management, data-driven decisions, enrichment of our products, services and business support systems, and enabling the technology to deliver on new products and business models.

Worldline NZ is a compact organisation of around 200 professionals. As such, roles are quite broad and require generalist skill sets along with the specialisation needed to work on the leading edge of payments technologies.

Here’s what you’ll be spending most of your time on:

  • Architecting, designing and developing the digital products for Worldline NZ — producing technical specifications and hands-on guidance under an agile delivery model.
  • Implementing software to be deployed into prototypes and experimental products, and providing technical oversight on new concepts.
  • Collaborating with our Technology & Product Development leaders and squads to improve our products, processes and ways of working — instilling a sense of urgency into what we do.
  • Contributing actively to product roadmaps, operational capability, processes and ways of working, partnering closely with Technology & Product Development leaders.
  • Partnering with Product and Sales colleagues to provide technical subject matter expertise in customer engagements.
  • Working closely within the squads day to day to deliver future product feature sets.
  • Working as part of the wider Architecture group to champion overall enterprise governance activities and the strategic technology roadmap.

Why join us?!

We realise what’s important to you and someone else can differ, so we offer a range of benefits to appeal to everyone, you included!

  • A beautiful purpose-built office in the heart of Auckland CBD – Harbour Views, Bar, Café and Gym onsite, and top-notch technology.
  • Our employee benefits package – what we call ‘Pick n Mix’ to spend on whatever tickles your fancy.
  • A generous bonus scheme.
  • A day off on your birthday.
  • A comprehensive culture & wellbeing programme with an annual calendar of fantastic events.
  • Time out for an on-site subsidised massage.
  • A KiwiSaver superannuation contribution.
  • Flexible and supportive working arrangements.
  • A great reward and recognition programme — and much more!

Here’s what we need from you:

You will need to be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills to facilitate the resolution of conflicting stakeholder requirements. You’ll be collaborative, enjoy working with others, and will be great at problem solving. You can be hands-on technically as needed, and will have experience with Python, Java and/or C++.

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Experience in Architecture practice and working with business stakeholders.
  • Experience in Solution design and creating technical documents for engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of the payments industry/domain.
  • Experience in developing integrated solutions, implementing, and supporting integrated systems in a complex environment.
  • Experience or certification in cloud technologies and experience designing infrastructure and hosting options.
  • Experience in integration frameworks and best practices.
  • Deep experience across systems integration, information management, data management and architecture.
  • Good analytical and communication skills to work with product and sales teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of the security and privacy concerns of financial institutions.
  • IT general knowledge, including brokering applications, asset management, migration planning and SLAs.
  • General knowledge of the legal and compliance environment, including data protection laws and contracts.

What’s it like to work for Worldline NZ?

We’ve got 200+ exceptional people working here and you’ll be joining a really talented, driven and credible team — united by keeping the customer at the heart of everything they do and renowned for making the complex look simple.

The digital space is made up of talent spanning Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Analysts, Agile Coaches, Product Analysts and Product Managers. We’re a supportive and collaborative team that loves nothing more than getting together to celebrate success.

Proudly, we have been awarded the prestigious Top Employer Accreditation and Great Places to Work Award, along with Small Workplace of the Year at the HeadFit Awards, and were finalists in the HRNZ awards for our Wellbeing Programme. Rest assured, this is an awesome place to work!
