The Solution Architect – Application Development and Maintenance (ADM) / Application Managed Services (AMS) is responsible for designing, governing, and continuously improving application support and maintenance solutions for enterprise clients. This role bridges business needs and technology, ensuring stable operations, cost efficiency, scalability, and continuous service improvement across managed applications. You are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia, ideally already based in Melbourne.
Your Responsibilities:
Solution Design & Transition
• Design end to end AMS solutions covering application support, maintenance, enhancements, and modernization
• Define support models, SLAs, KPIs, escalation paths, and governance frameworks
• Lead service transition from development or incumbent vendors to steady state AMS operations
• Assess application landscapes and recommend right sizing, rationalization, and optimization
Operational Excellence
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of supported applications
• Drive incident, problem, change, and release management best practices (ITIL aligned)
• Identify automation opportunities using AIOps, scripting, CI/CD, and monitoring tools
• Establish preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement plans
Stakeholder & Client Management
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, business stakeholders, and delivery teams
Governance, Risk & Compliance
• Define security, compliance, and audit controls (ISO, SOC, regulatory requirements)
• Manage application lifecycle risks and ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards
• Maintain architectural documentation and runbooks
Technical Skills
• Strong experience in Application Support & Maintenance (L2/L3)
• Good understanding of enterprise application architectures (monolith, microservices, cloud native)
• Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira Service Management)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP) and hybrid architectures
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automation
• Exposure to AIOps, observability tools, and SRE concepts is a plus
Process & Frameworks
• Strong knowledge of ITIL / ITSM frameworks
• Experience defining SLAs, OLAs, KPIs, and service catalogues
• Understanding of COBIT, ISO 20000, ISO 27001 is beneficial
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Stakeholder management and client facing experience
• Leadership in cross functional and multi-vendor environments
Experience & Qualifications
• 10 to 15+ years of IT experience, with 10+ years in AMS or support led architecture roles
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent
• ITIL Certification (Intermediate or Expert preferred)
• Cloud or architecture certifications (Azure/AWS Architect, TOGAF) are desirable
