Role Purpose

The Solution Architect – Cloud is responsible for designing, governing, and delivering scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions aligned to enterprise architecture standards and business strategy. The role provides end-to-end solution ownership across infrastructure, platform, security, and integration domains, ensuring cloud adoption supports operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

· Design end-to-end cloud architectures across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models.

· Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).

· Translate business and technical requirements into scalable cloud solutions.

· Define landing zone architectures, subscription models, and environment strategies.

Security & Compliance

· Embed security-by-design and zero-trust principles.

· Align solutions to regulatory and control frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC2, NIST, DORA).

· Define identity, access, encryption, and key-management architectures.

· Partner with InfoSec for threat modelling and risk assessments.

Integration & Connectivity

· Architect hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity models.

· Design secure integration patterns (APIs, messaging, event streaming).

Governance & Standards

· Contribute to Enterprise Architecture and Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE).

· Define and enforce cloud design standards, blueprints, and guardrails.

· Support Architecture Review Boards (ARB) and design authority forums.

Cost & FinOps Management

· Design cost-optimised architectures.

· Implement tagging, cost allocation, and budget guardrails.

· Support forecasting and consumption optimisation initiatives.

Delivery & Transformation

· Support cloud migrations, M&A integrations, and modernisation programmes.

· Provide technical leadership to engineering and delivery teams.

· Assure solution delivery aligns to approved architecture.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

· Deep expertise in at least one hyperscaler (Azure preferred / AWS / GCP).

· Cloud networking (VNet/VPC design, private endpoints, DNS, routing).

· Identity platforms (Azure AD / Entra ID, federation, SSO).

· Compute platforms (VMs, containers, serverless).

· Storage and data services.

· Backup, DR, and resilience architectures.
