Solution Architect – Technology Platforms

Your New Role

Are you a Solution Architect who thrives in complex environments, making smart trade‑offs and guiding delivery teams toward secure, scalable outcomes?

Reporting to the Senior Architect, the Solution Architect – Technology Platforms is responsible for developing suitable architecture and providing oversight of solution design and implementation for assigned technology projects. You’ll act as a key SME in your technical domain, supporting the implementation of the vision, roadmap and patterns across core platforms.

This is a role for someone with strong, hands‑on architecture capability across a diverse set of technologies (particularly Azure cloud and network architecture, Azure Integration Services, and Microsoft 365 technologies) and the ability to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels, including non‑technical audiences.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate clear architecture views that articulate current and future state for your portfolio/programs and present these through relevant governance forums.
  • Provide domain expertise across the architecture of the AustralianSuper cloud ecosystem, partnering with technology teams and service providers to deliver outcomes in a complex environment.
  • Assess requirements and provide architectural recommendations aligned to strategic vision, enterprise direction and best practice, guiding proposals through approved governance.
  • Act as the engagement point for stakeholders into your domain, managing demand and working closely across solution, program and delivery stakeholders.
  • Drive evidence‑based decision making using simple metrics (e.g., alignment, cost/benefit, cost/quality/risk) and proactively identify opportunities to improve Member value through continuous improvement.
  • Support governance, risk and compliance by ensuring appropriate controls and processes are followed and providing expert oversight across related process and technology.

What You’ll Need

  • Extensive experience of technology experience (ideally in the financial sector) with strong experience in architecture and design.
  • In-depth experience of solution architecture/design experience across Azure cloud & network architectures, Azure Integration Services, and Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Prior experience developing architectural patterns and solution architecture documentation.
  • Experience working in a cloud‑native and DevSecOps environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile and SDLC processes, tools and governance.
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence upwards and communicate effectively with non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering enterprise and solution architectures in partnership with internal teams and external vendors/service providers.
  • Working knowledge of frameworks such as TOGAF and ITIL.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a multi‑national organisation across different time zones.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and technology certifications/accreditations.
  • Broad knowledge of business and IT processes including disaster recovery, business continuity and risk management.
