Plan, direct, manage and oversee the activities and operations of an assigned division within the Solid Waste Department; monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Solid Waste Director.

When assigned to the Collections, Clean City, or Encampments Division:
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, public administration, or business administration; and
Seven (7) years of managerial experience in solid waste operations; and
To include (4) years of supervisory experience.
When assigned to Vehicle Maintenance Division:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, business administration, or public administration; and
Seven (7) years of managerial experience in vehicle/fleet maintenance and commercial and heavy equipment maintenance; and
To include (4) years of supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
When assigned to the Collection Division:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Managing Solid Waste Collections System Certification preferred.
Environmental:
Office and field environment; exposure to noise and inclement weather; fumes, gas, dust, grease, smoke, potentially hazardous chemicals; slippery or uneven surfaces; exposure to computer screens.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods; travel from office to sites.
