Our Branch

City Legal is a specialist provider of legal services to Brisbane City Council. We provide a comprehensive range of cost-effective legal services, adding value to Council's core business and major projects.

The Role

Brisbane City Council is seeking an experienced Property Solicitor to provide high‑quality legal advice on complex property and local government matters that shape Brisbane’s growth and infrastructure.

In this senior role, you will work on significant property transactions and major projects, partnering closely with internal clients and stakeholders to deliver practical, solutions‑focused legal advice that supports Council’s responsibilities to the community.

What you’ll be doing

  • provide clear, timely and practical legal advice on complex property and local government matters
  • review and negotiate a broad range of property‑related documents, including contracts for sale and purchase, leases, licences, easements, development agreements and project documentation
  • advise on matters relating to major projects, infrastructure delivery, resumptions, Native Title and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage
  • advise on legislation, subordinate legislation and local laws
  • liaise and negotiate at senior levels with Council, State Government and external stakeholders.

To be successful you will have:

  • admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and a current Queensland Law Society Practising Certificate
  • significant experience in property and local government law, including complex transactions and advisory work
  • strong drafting skills across a wide range of legal documentation
  • excellent negotiation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • collaborative approach and commitment to values‑based leadership and continuous improvement.
