The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and motivated early-career Solicitor to join our growing Planning & Environment team in Brisbane.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a lawyer looking to build on their foundational legal experience and develop specialist expertise in planning, environment, local government and infrastructure law. The highest quality work is available with a diverse client base including developers and all levels of government. The role is planning litigation focused, but also includes compliance work and providing strategic advice to clients.

The successful candidate will have direct access to and mentoring by the practice group Principals and Special Counsel and enjoy a fantastic working environment in a collegiate and welcoming team.

Core duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

• Conducting research and preparing court documents.
• Engaging with expert witnesses and barristers, participate in briefings and conferences.
• Appearing in court for simple matters.
• Arranging and participating in negotiations with senior team members.
• Assisting your team and mentors with the carriage and conduct of matters.
• Expanding your planning and environment law experience and contributing positively to client and team outcomes.
• Collaborating with other team members to deliver exceptional client service.

• Recently admitted, or in the early stages of your legal career.
• Experience in, or a strong interest in, planning and environment law, litigation, government, regulatory or administrative law.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• A high level of attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• The ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Exposure to court proceedings, settlement conferences or client matters through previous legal roles will be highly regarded.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
• A strong work ethic and commitment to exceptional client service.
• Enthusiasm for building professional relationships and contributing to the continued success of the practice.
