About the Opportunity

We have a vacancy based in our Karratha or Hedland office. This position is an ongoing full-time, 10 days per fortnight or 38 hours per week.

Legal Services provides free advice and assistance from any of our offices to help with a range of legal issues including family law, care and protection, domestic violence, and criminal injury compensation.

Essential Criteria:

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Qualifications: Must be able to provide or willing to apply for a Restricted Practicing Certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner and ability to practice in Western Australia.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with proven team building, coaching, engagement, and motivation skills, fostering a positive and high-performing workplace culture. Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely, in writing and verbally.
  • Leadership: Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance, within the organisation.
  • Technology Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Familiarity with legal technology and software is increasingly important for managing legal work efficiently and securely.
  • Stakeholder Network and Engagement: Building a professional network can be valuable for attracting clients and staying informed about legal trends and developments.
  • Dispute Resolution: Mediate disputes and conflicts.
  • Research: Ability to research and analyse the information required for case management.
  • Time Management: Managing caseloads, deadlines, and priorities is essential. Effective time management helps ensure that legal matters are handled efficiently.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work with diverse populations with cultural sensitivity.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Legal Expertise: An understanding of the law and being well-versed in the specific areas of law relevant to practice. This includes a thorough knowledge of statutes, regulations, and legal precedents.
