Solicitor Advocate
Classification grade: Legal Officer Grade VI
Salary: $165,865 – $169,359 p.a. base salary. Superannuation and annual leave loading are paid in addition to the base salary.
Work type: Full-Time – 35 hours per week, 24 months with a possibility or extension or conversion to ongoing
* Our primary place of work is the CSO Office located at 60-70 Elizabeth Street, Sydney. Please note we will be relocating to a new premises located at Parkline Place, 252 Pitt Street, Sydney in July 2026.
About the Role
As a Solicitor Advocate (Legal Officer Grade VI), you will provide professional and cost-effective legal services, contributing to the CSO's business goals. Your role will involve delivering high-quality advocacy, preparing legal advice, and ensuring compliance with panel requirements and CSO practice management standards. Additionally, you will contribute to the CSO's business development efforts and continuously enhance your legal knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities.

The Public Interest & Protection Practice Group
The Public Interest & Protection practice group provides expert legal services to NSW Government agencies in areas including public interest immunity claims, guardianship issues, discrimination matters, and charitable trust administration. Solicitors with either criminal or civil law experience, particularly those with litigation expertise, are strongly encouraged to apply.
About You
The ideal candidate will have extensive advocacy experience (+5 years) and the demonstrated ability to present effectively, prepare evidence and deal with evidentiary issues, conduct cross-examination and re-examination in matters, and prepare and present written and oral submissions that are clear, accurate and persuasive. Prior experience mentoring and developing advocacy skills in lawyers and experience advising on appeal prospects and conduct of complex appeals in Courts and or Tribunals is desirable.
