We are seeking a talented and experienced solicitor with a strong background in intellectual property law, specifically trade marks, to join our dynamic and market-leading team. This role will report to Cate Nagy, who represents high-profile Australian and international clients in trade mark prosecution and portfolio management, as well as IP litigation and enforcement.
In this position, you’ll be exposed to a broad spectrum of trade mark work, including strategic filing, clearance and prosecution advice, enforcement advice, oppositions, and non-use proceedings. We are seeking a dedicated trade mark lawyer to join our team, working with our senior trade mark specialist lawyers to manage global and domestic trade mark portfolios and provide related advice. You will also work alongside our IP dispute and litigation specialists. Our clients operate across an impressive array of industries such as telecommunications, technology, media & entertainment, and fast-moving consumer goods. The team manages a first-tier, large-scale trade mark portfolio for some of Australia’s and the world’s leading companies.
Teamwork is at the heart of our success. We pride ourselves on our collaborative and friendly environment, regularly partnering with specialists across our intellectual property group and other practice areas, supported by advanced electronic tools. The work is both varied and exciting, often involving Australia’s most significant and complex IP cases and disputes.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need trade mark prosecution and opposition experience, alongside excellent analytical, communication, and research skills to deliver prompt, commercially astute advice. We are looking for candidates that have experience in:
1.drafting and preparing trade mark applications;
2.preparing clearance reports;
3.providing prosecution advice, including the preparation of submissions;
4.preparing advice and evidence in support of opposition and non-use proceedings; and
5.liaising with foreign agents
We value a strong commitment to client service, robust relationship management abilities, and a team-focused attitude that helps build strong internal connections and fosters a willingness to learn new skills. You’ll also be encouraged to get involved in business development activities, including industry programs and strategic networking.
Ideally, you will bring recognised IP experience from a similar environment or specialist firm and a passion for working as part of a committed and supportive team.
