The Solder Specialist performs a wide range of skilled, non-repetitive electronic and electro-mechanical assembly operations to the highest standard of quality including assembly and soldering of thru-hole components onto printed circuit boards (PCB) according to specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on RMA's, ball grid array (BGA), and board specific modifications in compliance with IPC-7711-7721 preferred.
  • Inspect, solder and rework thru-hole components on printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Wire and placement of connectors (both solder and crimp type).
  • Assemble to IPC-A-610 class 2 & class 3 requirements.
  • Perform transactions and inquiries in ERP system such as completing shop move logs, locating and reviewing work instructions and standard operating procedures and clocking in and out of work orders.
  • Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, inspection of product and mechanical assembly builds.



Qualifications

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3 - 5 years of soldering experience required
  • 5+ years of prior assembly experience preferred

REQUIRED/PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Proficient with soldering, wiring and reworking on printed circuit boards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience working to ICP-610 standards
  • Ability to safely and proficiently use a microscope and/or Mantis
  • Ability to independently test and verify ESD equipment (e.g. wrist strap and cord)
  • Ability to use basic level test equipment, solder iron, lead and lead-free solder, no clean, and water-soluble fluxes, tweezers, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret bill-of-materials (BOM) and assembly drawings, including notes
