Job Description

The Intermediate Solder Assembler is responsible for incorporating rework/repair on boards using an AirVac machine, hot plate, and mini wave solder pot. In this role, the assembler will have to review, analyze, and understand the extent of rework required on individual boards. Using IPC J-Standard 7711/7721 and IPC 610 this assembler will need to ensure the rework/repair of components is to standards and inspect surrounding areas for any potential heat exposure damage.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interact with multiple departments including Production, Planning, Purchasing, Process Engineering, Product Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality and other Mercury Systems business units.
  • Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble, assemblies/subassemblies according to specifications.
  • Interpret Job Routers, written instructions, wiring diagrams and schematic drawings for assembly of electronics.
  • Perform inline inspections of assemblies to ensure they meet/exceed IPC standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Typically requires 5 years of work experience in Soldering.
  • Experience with IPC J-Standard
  • Must have meticulous hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Experience with soldering, or mechanical assembly.
  • Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic discharge) procedures.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work under microscope.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a flexible and changing environment with multiple competing deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, leadership and initiatives, on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electronics assembly and inspection experience.
  • J-STD-001 Certified
  • Knowledge of or certified in IPC-A-610, IPC- 7711, IPC 7721
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multitask.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.

  2. Constant movement and use of limbs. Specific abilities required by this job include prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and frequently pinching and/or gripping. Sometimes, working under a microscope for long periods of time will be required
  3. Frequently observe, detect, discern, and convey information. Specific abilities required by this job include near, far and color vision acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  4. Requires good manual dexterity and coordination, and stamina. Specific abilities required by this job include the frequent requirement of overtime work.
