We are looking for a Tool Developer to design and build developer productivity tools and language tooling using JavaScript/ TypeScript, NodeJS, with a strong focus on VS Code extension development and DSL (Domain-Specific Language). You will work closely with product teams, architects, and domain experts to create robust tooling, editors, validations, and integrations that improve developer workflows and enable structured modeling using DSLs.Tasks / Responsibilities:1) VS Code Tooling & Extension Development· Develop and maintain VS Code extensions using JavaScript / TypeScript and NodeJS· Implement editor capabilities such as:o Syntax highlighting, code completion, hover, go-to-definition, rename, formattingo Diagnostics, quick fixes, and problem matchers· Package, version, and publish extensions (internal marketplace / VSIX distribution)· Improve usability through UI/UX enhancements (commands, views, status bar, webviews)2) DSL Engineering· Design and evolve Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs) using Langium or similar workbenches· Define grammars, AST models, and language services (parser, linker, validator, serializer)· Implement semantic validation rules and actionable error messages· Generate artifacts from DSL models (e.g., configs, documentation, code stubs, JSON/YAML outputs)3) Toolchain Integration & Automation· Integrate DSL tooling into CI/CD pipelines (linting, validation, model checks)· Build CLI utilities and automation scripts around DSL compilation/validation· Collaborate with teams to integrate tooling into existing developer workflows and repositories4) Quality, Maintenance & Collaboration· Write unit/integration tests for language services and VS Code extensions· Maintain high code quality via reviews, static analysis, and coding standards· Produce developer documentation, quick-start guides, and examples for end users QualificationsRequired3–5 years of experience in software development with a focus on developer tooling, IDE plugins, or language engineeringStrong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript and Node.js for extension and tooling developmentHands-on experience developing VS Code extensions (commands, providers, webviews, Tree Views)Practical knowledge of Langium or similar language workbenches (Xtext, MPS) for DSL developmentUnderstanding of Language Server Protocol (LSP) and Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP)Experience with Python for scripting, automation, and toolchain integrationWorking experience with Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline design and maintenanceFamiliarity with Electron framework for desktop application developmentSolid understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologiesSelf-motivated, capable of working independently, and eager to continuously learn new technologiesGood to HaveExperience with embedded software development workflows (build systems like CMake, cross-compilation toolchains)Knowledge of grammar engineering, AST manipulation, and code generation patternsKnowledge of semantic versioning, VSIX packaging, and VS Code Marketplace publishingExperience working in a distributed or cross-functional team environment
