Job Description

If you are passionate about software quality and enjoy working in a collaborative engineering environment, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you. As a Software Test Engineer, you will be part of the Roxar product organization, developing and validating software solutions that support advanced flow measurement and instrumentation technologies used in the energy industry. In this role, you will help ensure products meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction through effective testing and automation practices.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Review requirements, architecture, and design documentation to identify risks, improve testability, and define acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and execute risk-based test strategies, test plans, and test cases, ensuring traceability to product requirements.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test solutions, reusable test libraries, simulators, and test environments.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and leverage results to provide timely feedback to development teams.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression, exploratory, performance, and robustness testing.
  • Investigate software issues, analyze logs and test data, reproduce defects, and support root-cause analysis efforts.
  • Verify customer-reported and manufacturing-related issues and expand regression coverage to prevent recurrence.
  • Create clear defect reports and provide objective quality assessments to support release readiness decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of testing methodologies, automation capabilities, and quality practices.

Who You Are:

  • You are a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions. You approach challenges with curiosity and a structured mindset, balancing technical rigor with practical decision-making. You collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly, and proactively seek opportunities to improve products, processes, and customer outcomes.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with software testing, verification, and validation against requirements.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles, version control systems, defect tracking tools, and release processes.
  • Programming or scripting experience, preferably using Python.
  • Experience testing solutions that integrate software, firmware, electronics, and communication interfaces.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks, continuous integration pipelines, and automated reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, simulators, laboratory equipment, or embedded Linux environments.
  • Experience with API, interface, network, or protocol testing.
  • Understanding of electronics troubleshooting and system-level validation.
  • Experience working in industrial, regulated, or safety-critical product development environments.
