The Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) software department within Raytheon is looking for a Software Sub Integrated Product Team (Sub-IPT) Lead for the Ground Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program. The department’s mission is to provide world class Missile Defense and Surveillance Radar Software to be used in radar systems deployed on land and sea. Our software teams employ an Agile Scrum and DevSecOps processes to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers.

The candidate will provide impactful strategic and technical leadership to the multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for the design, development and integration of the Radar Software. This role requires collaboration between multiple software baselines including Radar Digital Product Line (RDPL), Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) and Cobra Dane.

You will lead the team through program reviews and milestones, providing technical oversight and managing execution. In addition, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Engineers, Program Management, and the IPT lead, applying Agile practices to ensure that the software meets customer requirements and supports long-term capability growth and innovation. This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-visibility software team and make a direct, measurable impact on program success.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the cost, schedule and technical performance of multi-disciplinary agile teams.

  • Interacting daily with other cross-discipline teams to identify and provide the most cost-effective set of program goals and objectives while driving on-time and on-budget performance.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure team priorities are aligned with program execution and program milestones.

  • SW Risk and Opportunity identification, creation, management and execution of mitigation/capture plans.

  • Innovate and implement process improvements to reduce cost, enhance efficiency and strengthen team performance.

  • Supporting strategic efforts to identify and advocate for future growth of system operability.

  • Regular review of program status including tracking and review by both Engineering and Program Leadership.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience managing project or program cost, schedule and risk or experience with Earned Value Management, Risk & Opportunity, IMS or IMP tools.

  • Experience presenting program and technical issues to senior stakeholders.

  • Experience in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering and/or System Integration.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S government issued security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with oversight of cost, schedule and technical performance of one or more software team(s).

  • Experience with leadership and/or design for complex, large scale systems or a related industry certification.

  • Experience on RDPL, XBR, AN/TPY-2, COBRA DANE, QEWR, UEWR, SRP or radar data processing domain knowledge.

  • Experience with DoD or similar major programs throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Earned Value Management System Certification.

  • Experience with cost estimation and developing government technical proposals.

  • Experience with both domestic and international defense programs including both Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contracts.

  • Experience working on a development program using agile/scrum and in DevSecOps/Automation.

  • Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements and competing priorities.

  • Experience with communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
