Job Description

Your Week as a Software Service Engineer

No two weeks are the same as a Software Service Engineer at LAN. One week you are supporting customers remotely from the office, while the next you are travelling to a customer site to perform a software upgrade or resolve a complex system issue.

Your week often starts by reviewing incoming service requests. A customer in France may have a question about a software modification, while a system in the United States has experienced a malfunction. You log in remotely, analyse the situation, and ensure the production line is back up and running as quickly as possible. As the first point of contact for software-related issues, customers know they can always rely on you.

In addition, you work on software upgrades and enhancements for existing LAN installations. You develop and test software modifications, coordinate with Engineering colleagues, and ensure changes are implemented smoothly without causing unnecessary downtime for the customer.

Throughout the week, you deliver training sessions to operators, maintenance technicians, and service partners. You help users get the most out of our systems and ensure they can work independently and efficiently with the software.

A significant part of your working week is spent at customer sites. You inspect installations, implement software optimizations, and support local service partners in carrying out their work. When things do not go according to plan, you respond quickly, make decisions, and find the right solution. At the same time, you identify opportunities to further improve installations. You discuss recommendations with customers and share your findings with the Service and Engineering teams.

No two weeks are the same. One week you are focused on remote support and software improvements from the office, while the next you are travelling to customer sites anywhere in the world to optimize installations. It is this combination of technology, freedom, travel, and customer interaction that makes the role so rewarding and challenging.

How You Get Things Moving

  • Several years of experience in a service environment within machine building or industrial automation;
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and servo technology;
  • Experience with robot control systems such as KUKA, FANUC, or ABB, and PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or B&R;
  • Strong command of the English language;
  • Basic knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Isah;
  • A self-driven, customer-focused, and solution-oriented mindset.

A completely new supermarket experience. Huh, what?! Really.

Once you come to work at Lan Handling, shopping will never be the same again. From that day on, you will turn over all the pouches, cans and jars you see. And always that check: yes, we also handle this product with our machines! But, of course, that’s not all:

  • A desk with a view.
  • A working environment full of opportunities to develop further. Good idea? Any training wishes? Discuss it with your supervisor and get started.
  • Do you work on site at a customer? Then we have an excellent reimbursement scheme.
  • In addition to 25 vacation days, you also get 13 days paid leave. So you have enough time to do fun things in addition to your work.
  • 8% holiday allowance.
  • Flexibile working hours, so that you can make time for sports, hobbies or just take your children to school quietly in the morning.
  • An annual profit-sharing benefit. Because we feel that we do it together and everyone contributes to a positive result for the organisation, you also benefit from a financially successful year.
  • Good travel expense.
  • Join us for a Trabant ride or shine during one of the other fun activities organised by our staff association.
