Software QA Engineer

Offshore Contract Role

Experience: 3–5 years

Location: Bangalore (JP Nagar 2nd Phase)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Software QA Engineer to join our distributed quality engineering team on a contract basis. Working remotely as part of our offshore team, you will ensure the quality of our web and mobile applications through a blend of manual and automated testing across UI, API, and AI-driven features. You will collaborate daily with onshore developers, product managers, and QA leads, so strong communication and the ability to work independently are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for UI and API functionality across web and mobile platforms
• Build, maintain, and enhance automated test suites for regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing
• Perform API testing (functional, integration, contract, and performance) using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar
• Develop and maintain UI automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress
• Test AI/ML-powered features, including validating model outputs, prompt behaviors, response accuracy, and edge cases for LLM-based functionality
• Leverage AI-assisted testing tools to improve test coverage, generate test data, and accelerate test creation
• Identify, document, and track defects through resolution using tools like Jira, with clear written reproduction steps
• Provide daily status updates and participate in remote standups, sprint ceremonies, and handoffs with the onshore team
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated tests (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Analyze test results, report on quality metrics, and proactively flag risks to onshore stakeholders

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance
• Strong experience in UI testing — both manual exploratory testing and automation (Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress)
• Solid experience in API testing — REST/GraphQL, using Postman, REST Assured, Karate, or similar tools
• Proven experience building or contributing to test automation frameworks in at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Exposure to AI testing — validating AI/ML or LLM-based features, understanding of non-deterministic testing challenges, or experience with AI-assisted QA tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)
• Understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team with minimal supervision
• Prior experience working with offshore/onshore delivery models or international clients

Work Arrangement & Requirements

• Time zone overlap: Minimum 3–4 hours of daily overlap with US Central Time (CST/CDT) for standups, handoffs, and collaboration
• Availability: Full-time dedicated engagement (40 hours/week); no concurrent client commitments during contracted hours
• Equipment & connectivity: Reliable high-speed internet, own workstation meeting security requirements, and a quiet workspace for video calls
• Security & compliance: Willingness to sign an NDA, comply with client data security policies, and use company-approved tools (VPN, VDI, access controls) for all work
• Communication tools: Proficiency with Slack/Teams, Zoom/Google Meet, Jira, and Confluence for async and real-time collaboration

Nice to Have

• Experience with ETL/data pipeline testing — validating data extraction, transformation, and loading processes, data quality checks, and source-to-target reconciliation
• Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, k6, Gatling)
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience testing prompt-based systems, chatbots, or generative AI applications
• Familiarity with test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, Xray)
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
• Basic SQL skills for database validation
