Software Engineering QA

We have an opportunity for a Software Engineering QA to join our Engineering team in Brazil, reporting to a Manager, Engineering. In this pivotal role, you will champion product quality across our cloud-first networking and security portfolio, designing and executing test strategies that keep customers secure and releases predictable. Collaborating closely with software engineers, product managers, and SREs, you will build robust test coverage, expand automation, and use AI-powered tools to accelerate analysis, triage, and verification so we can ship reliable features faster.

Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do

  • Design end-to-end test strategies for new features and regressions across web services, APIs, and data pipelines
  • Build and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, and integration) that run in CI/CD and guard critical user flows
  • Create clear, modular test cases and data sets to validate functional, performance, and security requirements
  • Use AI-assisted tools to generate test ideas, summarize logs, and draft test cases, validating outputs with sound judgment
  • Analyze test results, logs, and metrics to quickly isolate defects and provide actionable feedback to developers
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to refine requirements, acceptance criteria, and release readiness standards
  • Extend test coverage for edge cases, negative scenarios, and interoperability across services and environments
  • Contribute to test frameworks, utilities, and monitoring hooks that improve reliability and observability
  • Participate in code and design reviews, advocating for testability, quality, and automation-first practices
  • Document test approaches, quality risks, and release sign-off criteria for stakeholders

Be Prepared — What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including functional, regression, and integration testing
  • Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test case design, and defect lifecycle in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Hands-on experience testing web and API-based applications using tools such as Postman, REST clients, or similar
  • Practical exposure to test automation (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to use AI-assisted tools to generate test ideas, create or refactor test cases, and analyze logs or defects responsibly
  • Proficiency with SQL and log analysis to validate data integrity and troubleshoot backend issues
  • Experience working with source control and collaboration tools such as Git, Jira, and Confluence
  • Strong communication skills in Portuguese and working proficiency in English for global collaboration
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to partner closely with developers, product managers, and other QA engineers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Be Successful — Your Path

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.

Six Months:

  • Own test strategies for one or more services or feature areas, with clear coverage and automation plans
  • Deliver stable, reliable automated suites integrated into CI/CD with measurable reduction in escaped defects
  • Establish quality metrics (such as defect trends and flakiness rates) and share insights with the team to guide improvements
  • Partner with developers to embed testability early in the design process for upcoming features

One Year:

  • Become the go-to quality expert for a domain area, influencing design and implementation for testability
  • Lead quality initiatives that reduce regression risk and cycle time, including new automation or tooling
  • Mentor peers on best practices in automation, AI-assisted testing, and data-driven quality decisions
  • Contribute to cross-team QA standards and release readiness practices across the broader engineering organization

Belong — Your Community

Our culture thrives on inclusion, rewarding the bold ideas, curiosity, and creativity that move us forward. In a community where every voice counts, continuous learning is the norm. So, whether you code, create, sell, or care for customers, you’ll grow and belong here.

Be Rewarded — Benefits That Help You Grow, Thrive, Belong

  • Comprehensive health coverage, generous PTO, and flexible work options
  • Learning opportunities, career-mobility programs, and leadership workshops
  • Sixteen paid volunteer hours each year, global employee resource groups, and a “No Jerks” policy that keeps collaboration healthy
  • Modern offices with EV charging, healthy snacks (and the occasional cupcake), plus hackathons, game nights, and culture celebrations
  • Charitable Giving Program supported by Company Match
