Inside the Role

As a Software Release Management Engineer I, you will help support and improve the release management processes that enable software delivery across Daimler Truck's growing Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) portfolio. Working within established governance frameworks, including the Feature Rollout Process (FROP) and Base Rollout Process (BROP), you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of release management standards, processes, metrics, and tools.

This entry-level role provides an opportunity to build expertise in release management process governance while partnering with engineering, product, systems, validation, integration, and program management teams. You will support process documentation, metrics tracking, reporting, organizational alignment, and continuous improvement initiatives that help ensure release management practices remain effective, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

Working alongside experienced release management professionals, you will gain exposure to enterprise process management, software development lifecycles, Agile methodologies, and Software-Defined Vehicle delivery strategies. Your work will help drive process maturity, improve visibility into release performance, and support the evolution of DTNA's software release management capabilities.

Position offers a starting salary range of $78,000 – $100,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

Release Management Process Support

  • Support ongoing development and maintenance of FROP and BROP processes.
  • Maintain process documentation, standards, templates, and guidance materials.
  • Assist in evaluating process effectiveness and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Support adoption of release management best practices across stakeholder groups.

Metrics & Performance Management

  • Collect, maintain, and analyze release management metrics.
  • Support development of dashboards and performance reporting.
  • Monitor process health indicators and identify trends.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support continuous improvement efforts.

Continuous Process Improvement

  • Participate in initiatives that improve release management maturity and efficiency.
  • Help identify bottlenecks, gaps, and opportunities for process standardization.
  • Support implementation of process enhancements and new capabilities.
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to organizational knowledge sharing.

Governance & Organizational Alignment

  • Support release governance meetings, reviews, and decision-making processes.
  • Help ensure process transparency across participating teams.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to gather feedback and process requirements.
  • Assist in communicating process updates and governance decisions.

Tool & Reporting Support

  • Support release management tools, workflows, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Assist with process automation and data management initiatives.
  • Help maintain reporting structures that provide visibility into release management performance.
  • Contribute to tool improvement and implementation efforts.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in software development, systems engineering, project coordination, process management, or a related area.
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle concepts.
  • Interest in software release management, process governance, metrics, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic understanding of software delivery, CI/CD, or release management concepts.
  • Experience analyzing data and creating reports or dashboards.
  • Knowledge of automotive software development or Software-Defined Vehicle concepts.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
