What You’ll Do At Elekta

As Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team developing advanced treatment planning algorithms that support cancer care around the world. You will combine technical leadership, people leadership and scientific expertise to help bring innovative radiation therapy capabilities into clinical practice.

In this role, you will guide a specialist software engineering team, shape priorities and support the delivery of high-quality solutions for a regulated medical technology environment. You will work closely with colleagues across engineering, product, clinical and scientific disciplines to help turn complex requirements into reliable, effective and clinically meaningful software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a software engineering team working on treatment planning algorithms.
  • Define team priorities, goals and technical roadmap in alignment with company strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership in areas such as radiation therapy, mathematics, physics, computer science, AI, algorithm development and software architecture.
  • Support effective collaboration, communication and coordination across teams and functions.
  • Hire, onboard, mentor and develop team members, creating an environment where people can do their best work.
  • Contribute to requirements engineering, architectural design and medical device documentation.
  • Participate in risk management activities and support high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, tools and ways of working.
  • Stay current with software engineering practices, standards, languages, tools and developments in the radiotherapy domain.

What You’ll Bring

  • PhD in a relevant field, or MSc combined with clinical experience in radiation therapy.
  • Experience in algorithm development, or a clinical radiation therapy background combined with coding skills.
  • Experience leading, coaching or managing technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of software development design principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both written and spoken.
  • A collaborative working style, with the ability to build trusted relationships across disciplines.
  • Experience with lean or agile development is an advantage.
  • Experience in medical device development is an advantage.
