As a Software Engineering Manager at Gridware, you will lead a team of engineers building software that directly improves the reliability and resilience of the electric grid. This role blends technical leadership with people management: you’ll stay close to the code and architecture while guiding engineers toward delivering high-impact, mission-critical systems. You’ll partner closely with product, data, and business stakeholders to translate real-world infrastructure challenges into scalable, cloud-native solutions, while developing engineers into leaders who raise the bar for the entire organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and grow a team of software engineers building products that help utilities detect, prevent, and respond to grid failures
  • Establish and maintain a high technical bar through active participation in code reviews, design reviews, and architectural discussions
  • Translate business and customer needs into clear technical direction, driving execution toward outcomes with real-world impact
  • Champion agile best practices, ensuring teams plan effectively, deliver predictably, and continuously improve
  • Invest deeply in people development by coaching engineers, building feedback loops, and developing future technical and people leaders

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing software engineers across a range of seniority levels
  • Strong software engineering foundation with the ability to meaningfully engage in system design and implementation details
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native systems and modern web stacks, including React, Python, and TypeScript
  • Demonstrated focus on building high-quality, reliable systems, including evaluating technical tradeoffs and failure modes
  • Comfort working in agile environments and adapting processes to support growing, evolving teams
  • Ability to balance short-term delivery pressures with long-term technical strategy and platform health

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with GraphQL-based APIs and service architectures
  • Experience building or supporting mobile applications or mobile-adjacent platforms
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or real-time data processing
  • Alignment with Gridware’s mission to modernize and harden critical infrastructure
