Software Engineering Manager – Aircraft Products

OASYS, INC., a Leading-Edge Government contractor, is seeking applicants for a Software Engineering Manager position to support our customer in Huntsville, Alabama.

We are seeking a decisive, high-integrity leader to head our Aircraft Products Software Engineering team. This isn't just a role managing code; it is an opportunity to build a legacy by transforming a group of individual experts into a unified, high-energy force.

Note: Due to Department of Defense contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead the Aircraft Products Software team in the design of firmware and application software for product integration.
  • Operational Excellence: Modernize software Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by introducing industry best practices.
  • Project Oversight: Hire and supervise Software Project Leads to interface between corporate customers and international development teams.
  • Technical Participation: Participate in the full product lifecycle, including quoting, architecture, debugging, and testing.
  • Quality Assurance: Review the design and development of functional tests, from Unit Testing through full Software Verification.
  • Strategic Communication: Effectively communicate software capabilities and resources to potential customers.
  • Mentorship: Train team members in required design processes and software systems documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or BSEE (with applicable software development experience).
  • Experience: 8+ years of coding experience and 6+ years of software management experience.
  • Firmware/Software: Professional experience with Embedded firmware (C), Embedded Linux, and Windows development, specifically experience with embedded software on custom designed and built electronics.

Highly Desired Skills:

  • Industry Standards: DO178 and DO254 experience; Safety-based QMS.
  • Tools: Git, Jira, or Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Technical Domains: Cybersecurity, Ethernet (TSN).
  • Hardware Interface: Experience with Serial, USB, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
  • Methodologies: Agile Software Development.
