Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in California is currently seeking a Manager, Software Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software organization. This role can be located in Palmdale, California.

This candidate will be the product owner of a product team working closely with Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leadership and software architects. This is a vital position to a classified program in support of software design and development. Candidate will be responsible for leading a product team through software architecture, requirements, design and development phases. Candidate will provide leadership to the software team (8-12 engineers) by flowing down system level architecture/requirements and setting the technical direction for the team to execute.
Candidate will be responsible for the effective execution of an Agile-focused software lifecycle process at the product level, to include managing a product Configuration Control Board (CCB), and tracking and reporting all relevant metrics to the IPT.
Candidate will be responsible for both cross-product coordination within the various IPTs coordination within the program, allocating developer resources where necessary.
The program is a multi-site, multi-sector effort. The Candidate shall be willing to travel to other sites to support technical meetings, integration efforts, and other related tasking. The Candidate shall also be willing to adjust work schedule as required to meet needs of east coast coordination.
The candidate will also be responsible for functional duties including conducting performance assessments, staffing, employee development, communication meetings, disciplinary actions, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/ approval and other routine personnel issues. This position will be responsible for establishing common processes and practices in cooperation with colleague managers across the sector.
Essential Functions
Contingency: Requires minimum active U.S. Government Secret (or higher) level clearance and active program access (PAR) before start.
Basic Qualifications
Must either have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development, OR a Master’s degree Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 7 years of related professional/military experience OR a PhD Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field and 4 years of experience that includes a background in software development
Demonstrated professional experience with an Agile Framework within the last 3 years
Demonstrated professional experience implementing software and scripts in one or more Object Oriented Programming languages: C++, scripts in C, AND/OR Python
Demonstrated professional experience with software change control, change management, and CI/CD tools such as not limited to: GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, and/or Atlassian tool suite
Active in-Scope, U.S. Government Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
Start date is contingent upon the ability to obtain special program access; and required to maintain both an active U.S. Government clearance and PAR
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated professional leadership experience
Experience in software architecture
Experience with virtual machines and virtual networks: VMware, Hyper-V, VPC, NSX-T, and/or NSX-V
Demonstrated Professional Experience with at least one of the following Cloud technologies and service providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft (MS) Azure, OR Google Cloud within the last 3 years
Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), or High-level Architecture within 3 years
Knowledge and experience with simulated threat environments, such as, AFSIM or NGTS and Full-Motion Flight Training Systems within the last 3 years
Experience with developing software for safety critical embedded systems
Familiarity with software requirements tools such as DOORS and Rational Rhapsody
Ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Demonstrated ability to build a diverse and inclusive team with engagement
Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills, and excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
Experience leading a team of 12 employees with a record of on-time performance
Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities
Experience with task or resource planning, development of Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and IFC planning
Primary Level Salary Range: $161,100.00 - $241,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
