Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for entry level engineers in our Military Avionics Display Applications department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment focused on the design and development of software only products. Products supported with this role include:

Flight 2 Displays Solutions – One of our signature products for Military Avionics as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics Systems, fielded on thousands of aircraft today, at this moment. Specific capabilities of our software are Primary Flight Management, Engine Instrument Display, and Navigation and Flight Plan Display.

What You Will Do

  • You will be part of an Agile scrum team
  • You will participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of flight-critical embedded software for military avionics flight management Systems
  • You will contribute to an engineering team by organizing tasks, coordinating team efforts, asking questions, communicating status, raising issues, brainstorming ideas, helping others, practicing active listening, and promoting a collaborative environment.

  • You will learn all phases of the software product life cycle from requirements through to verification, while employing the company software engineering processes to produce high quality products.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Software Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Avionics or software development/testing experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile Development Environment.
  • Coding experience in Ada, C/C++, or Python.
  • Requirement management tools: DOORS or JAMA.
  • Atlassian Suite knowledge (JIRA and Confluence in particular).
  • Experience with configuration control of documentation, test artifacts and environment setups.

  • Onsite Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
